And I'm here to complain about it.
inb4 B-b-b-b-b-but Westbrick gets triple doubles.
brb has another elite player on his squad for the whole year and is only a game and a half up on the Clippers.
Yes mad.

i don't disagree but i think it's irrelevant anyways. He has solidifed himself as one of the best PG ever, another nba 1st selection isn't gonna do much for him.
only thing that will make the casuals and the haters actually give him the proper credit is if he wins an MVP or championship
And i'm sure that's the only thing he cares about too (moreso the championship)

As a fan of this franchise for 15-16 years, I want every accolade that it has coming to it.
If we have a 1st team All NBA player, I want it acknowledged. Might be different if we were a team with a decorated history. But I want to look back on the CP3 years and on top of a championship, brag about how many 1st teams he made, how many ASGs he made with us, 1st team all defenses etc. etc.

No I understand the sentiments completely. You're talking about a body of work over the course of 82 games, an all NBA selection isn't something to scoff at. These guys, especially Paul, go all out and deserve whatever award or accolade that they have earned.
But I mean if it's the difference between Paul getting a 1st team all nba, and getting a championship, i'm sure the fans and himself would rather the ring. Let Westbrook get his volume stats, whether that is intentional on his part or just a part of OKC's gameplan. I don't think that's conducive to winning in the playoffs, but it is correlated with getting an all nba selection, so be it.

I think westbrook has a decent argument over Paul even though i think Paul is better. In general fans and even the media dont actually realize how good cp3 is. Hes honestly the most underrated and under appreciated guy ive ever seen play.

Westbrook will get the nod, and won't get any argument from me. It's a real toss up between the two, though, I'm obviously a fan of Paul.
Now, if he gets snubbed for Lillard or Harden, I'd be disgusted.

When Russell lost KD last year, he had a huge contingent supporting him for MVP even though he was going to be a low seed and eventually ended up getting bounced from the playoffs.
Paul is without Griffin and has his team in 4th in the WC…even scoring victories over SAS and the OKC Thunder in the process.
It's becoming increasingly more clear how much this team misses Griffin and exactly how much Paul has covered for his absence since Christmas
I hate how the media covers the NBA.
and I hate inconsistent fanbois.
Russ gets triple double….he's GOAT. Makes nine turnovers against the Spurs? Quiet. No ridicule or some angle where it's okay because they need him to be aggressive.
Chris Paul? An after thought who can only be acknowledged because he pushed off on KD and in the process he hit him in his private parts.
Point God Taken for Granted

I think people just take Chris Paul for granted. He came into the league and practically started out putting up big numbers through a high-level performance and has pretty much maintained that level of excellence throughout his career so far. On the other hand, Westbrook came into the league with tremendous upside packaged in an bundle of athleticism. The difference between Paul and Westbrook is that Westbrook didn't start out at as high a level as CP3 did while Westbrook continues to improve. Again, that's because Paul came in as is while Westbrook still needs to work on his game.
Because of that, people take Chris Paul for granted even as he's widely recognized as the Point God while Westbrook is an unfinished product, which makes for a more intriguing storyline to follow to see if and when he'll be a complete player. Westbrook is viewed as the more youthful and vibrant player, which obviously adds to his appeal.
I've always felt Chris Paul was underappreciated. I've said that during talk of whether Deron Williams was better than Chris Paul. Time has proven Chris Paul is and that will likely prove to be the case again with the argument between him and Russell Westbrook. In the meantime, Westbrook will garner more attention as the latest cool kid on the block while CP3 plugs away as Mr. Rocksteady.

Ben Golliver, SI.com (3/23/16)
PG: Chris Paul, ClippersThe Clippers’ ability to cruise without Blake Griffin has hit some serious rough water over the last two weeks, with double-digit losses to the Spurs, Cavaliers, Thunder, Hawks and Grizzlies, plus an ugly loss on Sunday to a badly undermanned Pelicans squad. However, one thing continues to remain clear: Chris Paul is doing more than his fair share to keep L.A. afloat.
During the Clippers’ 8-8 stretch since the All-Star break, Paul has picked up his numbers and his shooting efficiency, while ranking second league-wide in assists behind triple-double machine Russell Westbrook.
Pre-ASW: 19.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 9.4 APG, 45.6 FG%
Post-ASW: 22 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 11.4 APG, 49.6 FG%
But Paul’s ability to pick up the slack without Griffin is especially evident in L.A.’s offensive efficiency numbers with him on the court and without him. The on/off gap, which has been wide for years due to the Clippers’ shaky backcourt depth, has been an absolute canyon of late.
On the season, L.A.’s offensive efficiency improves by 15.9 points when Paul takes the court. That’s absurd. Since the All-Star break, that differential has spiked to 21.1! What does that mean in simple terms? With Paul on the court, the Clippers’ offense has been the most efficient in the NBA (112.3) since the All-Star break, topping even the Warriors (111.5). Without Paul? The Clippers rank dead last (91.2), more than six points behind the hapless Suns.
Here’s what that looks like in chart form. The Clippers with Paul are the far left bar and the Clippers without Paul are on the far right.
Simply put, Paul has been a one-man army who hasn’t gotten nearly enough credit for keeping the Clippers in the West’s No. 4 seed without his All-Star sidekick. Although both Stephen Curry and Westbrook have impeccable cases as All-NBA First Team selections, Paul’s play and impact deserve mention in that conversation too. Anything less than a Second Team nod would be a catastrophe.

I like having DJ get first team more than I would have wanted Paul to get it. DJ was a second round pick of ours, home grown and developed here with us. CP3 was already a superstar when we traded for him. This is why I don't want to see Blake or DJ go anywhere, I want to hit whatever heights we hit with homegrown superstars. Quake has been a fan for 15 years, I have him by another 10 years and I think Neddy is older than I am. After everything we have been through, let's celebrate!

Sigh....what could have been....
Congrats to DeAndre tho. I would have made the same choice. He had a great year for you guys. Paul was great too tho its hard to complain about finishing behind Curry and Westbrook this year.
And to the OP complaining about Westbrook's triple doubles---they are obviously an arbitrary accomplishment that really means nothing, but they aren't empty stats either. OKC hasn't lost a game the last 2 seasons in which he got a triple double.
Oh and yes Chris Paul is very very very very underappreciated. I couldn't agree with you guys more on that. Unbelievable player.

Deandre Jordan 1st team all NBA. Who the f*ck would've guessed that. And yet it's very deserved, he's been the most consistent two way C in the league.

Never said they were empty stats. My issue is the "arbitrary accomplishment that really means nothing" part that dominates the narrative and, IMO, probably affects voting on these things.
CP3 did more with less (obviously anybody who has a problem with this take is gonna point to DJ) and is losing out because he has a lower USG than Russ and isn't as good of a rebounder as a smaller PG.
Good for Russ and the Thunder and their fans.
I'll just hold me little ole opinion about it over here in the Clipper forum.

It's not being beat over your head now though.
