Let's not forget the handling of Jared Dudley even if that's a Doc prerogative. Redick, Griffin, and now Big Baby Davis and the list can go on. Then I end up getting the MRI right before the season stars and they’re like, ‘Your ankle’s broke.’ I’m a free agent at the time. So I got to get it fixed. Nobody’s going to pick me up with a broken ankle.”
Davis said the Clippers’ training staff did not tell him he had broken his ankle. He felt pain after Game 6 against the Spurs – and went on to play Game 7 and was used sparingly in seven games against Houston in the Western Conference semifinals – but he didn’t think it was anything serious.”
“They told me I was fine,” Davis said of the Clippers’ training staff. “They told me I was okay. They told me, ‘Just get some physical therapy, get it stronger and you’ll be fine. You’ll be okay.’ Okay, my ankle’s broke and now I got to sit and watch everybody play this year.”

Supposedly, Jason Powell is friends with a few Clipper members and players. That may be the reason why he hasn't been disciplined or fired yet.
This report could force the Clippers (particularly Steve Ballmer) to clean house and upgrade their medical staff. If they suffer an early playoff exit either to the Blazers or Warriors, the issue could be accelerated, maybe even address as early as the July moratorium.

i've always defended powell because there's a difference between coincidence and actual causation. i've also heard nba players come over from the phoenix suns and declare the clips training staff the best they've ever had.
but this is pretty bad. i have zero issues with the team trying to clean house and getting a complete advanced makeover.

The thing is all these player endorsements seemed forced, particularly those coming from our own players. I've noticed them sprinkled into interviews and they're usually the same verbiage as if they were repeating talking points from a directive. I didn't think much about it but given our history and the latest former player to come out and discuss how their injury was misdiagnosed by our internal staff, it's time that we conduct ourselves as an actual professional organization.
Geez, this BS was supposed to be weeded out when Sterling left. Instead we have atrociously half-measure logo and uniform redesigns, continued malpractice from the medical and training staff, a cartoony mascot, a ban on Apple devices, and a front office full of inexperienced cronies. Hardcore, my Aunt Fanny.

I always teased Jasen Powell and his "hands of magic"...although you can't directly blame Powell and his staff for some these injuries (and they've been quite a few freak injuries too--remember Shaun Livingston?), far too many lingering injuries have happened under his watch as the head trainer. You can also see why certain players pay for their own trainers.
If this story about Big Baby is true, then yeah...Powell and his staff need to be shown the door and quickly.

Sheesh, that certainly doesn't look good. Of course injuries aren't the fault of the medical / training staff, but they do have to do their due diligence when a player gets injured to know exactly what is going on. It doesn't look good on them if the seemingly haven't been thorough more than once.

yeah. i mean i might actually give the benefit of the doubt if it were the one thing. but blake's injury seems to have been misdiagnosed too. it's very bad optics no matter what actually occurred.

Pretty childish of Ballmer.
I don't even think they had outright bans at Microsoft. They heavily encouraged them to buy Windows devices but iPods and then iPhones were supposedly popular up there.

Microsoft, the company, banned employees from using Apple devices on their campuses years ago during the iPod-Zune war. I also recall Ballmer--or rather the organization on his behalf--declaring similar intentions shortly after taking ownership of the Clippers, but I don't think he can actually enforce that with players. He probably employs a ban on team employees using the devices for work purposes, but it's unrealistic for him to think that players and even his employees would stop using Apple devices altogether.
It's this insecure and selfish attitude that keeps us from actually doing what is in the best interest of the Clippers, which has allowed Doc to surround himself with cronies in the front office that has led us to an imminent ouster from the 1st round of the playoffs.

Has Ballmer indicated a willingness to pay luxury taxes repeatedly to sign some big free agents?
Because the first thing you think about is all the billions he has and how easily he could outspend most owners in the NBA.
Since they're paying a lot to their 3 core players, the team was hamstrung from adding depth to the team. But with the salary cap going up and his deep pockets, I'm surprised the Clippers weren't more aggressive.
For instance, a guy like DeMarre Carroll who was a free agent before this season, would have been the wing defender the Clippers have been looking for.

With a cap though, you can't just spend whatever you want. We have no cap room and we are limited in our sign and trades because of the first rounder given up to get rid of Jared Dudley... which, story coming round full circle, was also screwed over by our training staff.
I mentioned it about a month ago. Time for a whole new training staff. Time for a GM. Time for Ballmer to put his imprint on HIS team!

We're up against the hard cap, so it's not Ballmer's unwillingness to spend money but rather our lack of cap space to sign on outside free agents. We're left to overpaying for Jeff Green in trade just to have his Bird rights in order to re-sign him without having to worry about his cap figure, which seems exponentially stupid. We're likely to lose one of the few bench contributors in Cole Aldrich because he's outplayed the minimum deal we signed him to and we won't have his Bird rights to match whatever deal he'll get on the open market. We have to hope Paul Pierce retires as he's a waste of space as a 1-year-too-late signing.
Our best bet is to swap Blake Griffin for Kevin Durant in a sign-and-trade deal if he is determined to leave OKC in free agency, which of course, is far from a sure thing. Likewise, we can probably engage Atlanta in another sign-and-trade proposal of Al Horford for DeAndre Jordan if we're inclined (we should be). It'd also be nice to sign players I've wanted that have helped other teams like Shaun Livingston and Al-Farouq Aminu, but again, that is difficult to do with limited cap space. We may have the mid-level and bi-annual exceptions for the offseason, but that remains to be seen.
Another longshot, would be LeBron James opting out and trying to bring the Brotherhood of Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade to join Chris Paul as Clippers. In that scenario, Griffin would be sent to New York to bring Melo to Los Angeles.
Obviously, we can't count on those dream scenarios, but I'm hoping whatever change takes place includes getting rid of Doc Rivers. I've personally been advocating for going hard after Mike Krzyzewski to be head coach with Ballmer's big bucks while considering your very own Travis Schlenk to be our GM.

here's the thing i wonder.
let's say i'm steve ballmer. i'm worth 20 billion. i may have had an up and down reign at microsoft, but by no standards am i dumb. and again, i'm worth 20b so something about that tells me i get my own way, and when i get mad most of the time i get to change things. when i see something that is clearly off, most of the time i get to change that stuff too.
i can understand why ballmer, as a neophyte owner, might be scared to let go of doc. but the trainer? after seeing him completely wreck one season of blake and all the stuff with davis? how can he not do anything about it?

One of the criticisms of his tenure at MS is that he didn't make division chiefs fall in line. They cared more about protecting their product than the welfare of the company overall so Ballmer couldn't change the culture and make the company adapt better to new markets like mobile phones.
IOW, he was too much a nice guy and he was dismissive of competitive threats.

^ And that's pretty much who he's been as the owner of the Clippers too. A dude that is content with letting Doc and Gillian run things as they see fit without giving any hint of interest in getting involved. Content with treading water and doing silly stuff for the camera from his seat, while the incredibly unlikely luck we had of getting two top 10 players is wasted away.
