We didn't get better at all this offseason.

It's hard to really know what to say about this. Aren't we going to have to use the MLE on Johnson and also be hard capped now?

We're going to be paying Jamal and Rivers about $27 million next season when we have our starting PG, SG and PF as free agents ready for some big raises. Doc and his front office seem to have no creativity, they are extremely basic. We can't keep this going. If you sign a 36 year old AND Austin to this much, we have to trade one of the highest paid guys for some lower paid players.

---------------------------------

The story is that the players went and talked to the management about this. This situation was precipitated by every off-season where Doc did not make a Jamal trade and it ended up in this.

And this completely kills any chance at free agency in the next three years, this is an unmovable contract. I could see moving Austin and Wes and play again next year, no way we can move all three.

Ugh what a f*ckin disaster of a team

Can you blame CP if he doesn't re-up with us for his age 33 season????

I won't.

You guys didn't read the whole thing (well some didn't) The PLAYERS were upset that the Clippers "low balled" him. Why would this scare them away if it was them that asked for it?
I'm starting to think Jamal really has something over everyone in the organization. I never understood why the starters would stand around and watch him play 1 on 5.

That's actually on me. I updated the opening post with the more recent tweets as they came in since they were fairly close together. Thanks for bringing attention to that, Tommy.

This simply is not good enough. We've been making horrible decisions for a while now but this takes the cake. With that salary, you can expect Jamal to eat up a lot of minutes.

I much rather have Cole Aldrich back for 3/$22M.

Losing Out On Aldrich

You and me both, brother, but I don't think that was an option with Pierce still undecided and on the roster and after signing Wes Johnson to a reasonable deal. We were able to sign Austin and Jamal to their respective contracts because we have their Bird rights while that does not apply to either Wes or Cole.

Players think differently about the game than fans do. It's been obvious that the players have a lot of trust in him when you listen to them speak.

No bird rights. The most we could have offered him was Wesley's deal (i.e. MLE).
