Is this another signing of one of Doc's favorites 1 year too late?

Bass used to have a killer mid-range jumper. Don't know if he still does

I'm pretty sure you guys all know that I've liked Bass for some time. I thought the team should have tried to trade for him and his very friendly contract last season.

I know this eats into any possible playing time for Brice Johnson, but this also helps to I hope make sure that the bench is not running small ball. Of course just like last season, I'm again wondering how minutes are going to work. Pierce can't be staying can he?

Forte IV wrote:Bass used to have a killer mid-range jumper. Don't know if he still does

Didn't shoot too well with the Lakers from long mid-range, 36.1% which is the lowest since his rookie season, but did shoot 45.7% in 14-15 from the range

yeah with bass signed i'm not sure pierce can stay on. at the very least i don't see how pierce takes more minutes than bass which at least is one good thing.

This is a pretty awesome signing, I don't get how guys can still find negative stuff to say about it. If Brice turns out a good player, he'll be better served by having to fight for minutes with veteran guys than playing over his head just because development.

But it gives us a good veteran that plays freakin defense (FINALLY) and can play with both DJ and Blake. It makes us not have to rely 100% on Speights playing a lot of minutes inside, and he takes a way below market salary to do it. People should be ecstatic with this signing.

If Pierce doesn't retire, he'll surely have to be riding the pine 100% of the time, but even then, we now have 16 players under contract. Even if they cut Dawson, we know Doc loves to have that 15th spot open, so he's probably counting on him to retire.

I feel bad for Brice, but it must be fate.

I prefer Bass.

The jury is still out on the signing of Brandon Bass as it is with Marreese Speights, but it is yet another indication that Doc is going back to the familiar and lacking in innovation. Is it really any wonder why we've stagnated under his watch when he himself can't seem to move forward with new players. It shows either a lack of confidence or an admittance that he can't develop or even evaluate new players.

I happen to be inclined to liking the acquisitions of both Bass and Speights, but as is always the case, the process by which Doc goes about his business plays into keeping us where we are instead of moving forward. Maybe it will work out this time. We're going on Year 4 with Doc so we're bound to bat above the Mendoza line, right? I wouldn't exactly be putting money on it, though.

People actually thought Doc would give significant minutes to a rookie? That's adorable.

I like this signing. Doesn't blow me away but Doc has made a lot worse so I'll gladly live with this.

That's your new starting power forward after Blake Griffin gets traded to the Boston Celtics. Brandon Bass is really good. You'll enjoy him.

The Celtics don't have the type of players the clippers want in a possible trade for Blake. Nothing they have would substantially improve the team

Good addition but I wanted to see Dawson and the rookie bigs get some minutes. Oh well what was I thinking
