Yea, Speights anchoring that unit will not be very pretty defensively

...but Speights can certainly get hot on offense

i mean it'd be fine if jamal crawford weren't playing and we had rivers/felton as our backup guards, but both speights and crawford at the same time? and add to the fact that they are both chuckers?
i think it's more accurate for me to say that i don't see doc's plan for the second unit in any capacity.
Reminder of Why the Draft Matters, Doc

McCaw is already showing some things for a Warriors team that is outclassing us while 2 of the 3 rookies we drafted are on the roster and probably not going to contribute much at all this upcoming season per Doc's modus operandi. The third draftee is in France. This is why Golden State has been able to build itself to be not only a great team, but sustain that excellence for a long while. Meanwhile our failures to draft competently and not address the hole at small forward have pushed an otherwise talented team into being an after-thought as contenders.
Just want to get my practice in during the preseason for my anticipated admonishments of Doc for the 2016-17 NBA season. BTW, imagine if we had drafted K.J. McDaniels over C.J. Wilcox in 2014.

DJ's Shooting Form

I thought I saw mwest post a video of DJ shooting free throws in the training camp thread, but I can't find it now. In any case and from what I saw, DJ's release point seemed more consistent as an improvement albeit in a relaxed setting, but I prefer that he would bend his shooting elbow in the L-shape before taking his shot.
Jalen Rose, Michelle Beadle, and Chauncey Billups discussed the supposedly non-existent competitive gap between the Clippers and Warriors Doc claims to be the case during half time. Beadle points out that there is indeed an obvious gap while Rose lumps the Clippers into the 2nd tier of NBA teams. Former Clipper Billups provides a bit of defense saying the Clippers will still have one of the league's best records due to Popovich resting his players in San Antonio.
Everyone noted how smooth the transiition has been with the new players for Golden State. The Clippers arguably have the benefit of familiarity with the returning core, but Rose points out that the Clippers continue to fail to address the small-forward problem that has been an issue during Doc's entire tenure.

We should give the young guys some run, not like we're coming back in this one.
Rookies Should Get Some Run Soon

Griffin has 5 personal fouls and just picked up a tech. I agree, let the rooks play.
You're Going to Go with That, Doc?

Was thinking about getting up early to catch this game. Looks like I dodged a high caliber bullet.
No worries, though, this just makes for a better narrative when we get the ring. "When they started the pre-season with an embarrassing loss to their division rivals, the dreaded Golden State Warriors, no one could have predicted it was just the shaky first step on the path to the greatest accomplishment in Clipper history."

I honestly thought we may not get to 60 points, glad we scored 75.

It's preseason, so who cares about the score? With that said, one stat caught my eye...
Austin: 27 minutes
Jamal: 20 minutes
Pierce: 7 minutes
Brice Johnson: 8 minutes
Diamond Stone: 9 minutes
Same old Glenn. If he won't even play the rookies in preseason games that don't count, they will be superglued to the bench in the regular season. Then Glenn will trade them at the deadline for washed-up vets and we'll have to watch them be productive on other teams.
At what point does Ballmer realize that he's been conned by this charlatan?

KJ McDaniels has struggled so far himself, maybe this will be his breakout season. I wanted him too, but so far the defensive IQ as well as the shooting are not there.
CJ could have gotten minutes too if he was on Philly.
A massacre game like last night was certainly the time to let the rookies loose.

A nice way to begin the preseason. No sarcasm. It wasn't much to watch, but it ought to get something out of them.
