Waiver Wire

Any players who were waived that could help the Clippers?
Omri Casspi
Matt Barnes
Terrence Jones
Jared Sullinger
Mike Scott
Deron Williams
Williams is basically already on the Cavs, but no need for him here anyways. Casspi is actually a guy I've liked and would help, but he's out 4-6 weeks with an injury. Barnes has been here before, we know what he brings, and even at his age, at a minimum for the rest of the season I wouldn't mind him with how poorly Johnson has played on offense.
The team doesn't necessarily "need" a PF, but in the view of adding young talent, 24 year old Sullinger and 25 year old Terrence Jones would be logical players to add. Minutes are the issue though, not sure why the PF's in contract years would choose the Clippers when there don't seem to be many minutes for them.

if casspi were only 3 weeks off i'd just add him no problem. but 4-6? that's kind of a gamble when we could ostensibly add someone who is better than wes johnson right now in barnes.
the other guys don't register on impact the way they might with barnes, so i think just cut whomever you need to and pick him up right away if he wants to come.
Not on Barnes Bandwagon

I'm not inclined to bring Barnes back at this point. He may be better than Wes Johnson, but I'd like to aim for someone better even if we're in a position of beggars not being choosers. Still, I doubt Doc takes him back given Barnes's previous beef with him.

Matt Barnes, any given day. We need those badass type players, our squad looks like a yes men's retirement home.

Casspi is another one of those players that I've always wanted on the Clips. Even if his recovery were closer to 4 weeks than 6, he'd still have very little time to integrate with the rest of the team. We only have 5 regular season games in April.
Matty B could certainly help. He's familiar with the guys and his passion could be a nice boost heading into the postseason.
I wouldn't mind Jones, but I think he would be more interested in a situation with more personal potential.

I would like Barnes too, but I have two concerns- Doc would probably cut Anderson and that seems a bit dirty because Anderson is a good guy. Also, would Barnes be happy playing spot minutes off the bench?

barnes would definitely take wes johnson's role.

If Matty B can help us, why did we get rid of him? Surely he hasn't gotten better since leaving?
Now we're just re-using old band-aids for the sake of change. I'd much rather play Bass at PF with Austin or Wes at SF.
Maybe we can sign Mullens and Dudley as well.

Sign Matt Barnes. Send Brice Johnson to D-League to make room on the roster.

We went with the younger Johnson instead with the assumption that with another year under his belt and integrating better, etc he would be better then Barnes and better then he was last season.
Sadly because of his atrocious shooting, he hasn't been better. He's done well rebounding and with help defense, which is good, but he's been a negative offensive player.
Dudley is on Phoenix btw

so with Barnes gone can we still possibly get a guy like Jones? at bare minimum I think we should just stash casspi and release Anderson.

At this point I don't think we're signing anyone. We would have to waive someone anyways. I haven't heard our name mentioned with any available players as of now.

I would jump on Casspi and take that chance he will get back sooner than later.
