Nice to see Robinson go off in scoring, but I expected more assists from him.

Robinson's no doubt under orders to be aggressive, not hand out dimes to guys who will never sniff the NBA against defenders who will never sniff the NBA. He shot 11 3-pointers [making 4].

3 and D, Jerome, 3-and-D. Learning to be in the right place and getting used to the NBA 3-point line is your future.

I think Jerome will spend time at A.C. until some sort of trade (which I totally think will happen) occurs around the break. He’ll get some minutes in the last 35-40 games here. Good game for him yesterday—what you want to see out of an NBA quality player in the G-League. He overmatches most people.

And, incidentally, so did/does Johnathan Motley. 27/11/5 last night. Looks like he’s bulked up a little too—maybe around 245 now. 23 years old, 6’9.5” with a 7’4” wingspan and a 9’3” or 9’4” standing reach. He was in the G-League top 10 in scoring and rebounding last year and shot 57% from the field. For God’s sake, give the guy a shot.

Coming-Out Party in Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood

While the Clippers have not reaped the same type of immediate payoffs as last season in finding 3 NBA contributors in C.J. Williams, Tyrone Wallace and Jamil Wilson, having our own G-League affiliate is still paying dividends for the long-term. Being able to send Jerome Robinson up and down to allow him to get in semi-regular playing time while working on addressing his shortcomings is huge.

Plus, the organization is developing players like Jonathan Motley and Angel Delgado who could contribute to the big club in a year or two, especially when cheap contracts will be needed to fill out the roster due to spending in free agency. Taking flyers on intriguing talent like Anthony Bennett and Jamel Artis might even yield rewarding returns.

In any case, I just love how we're using it to Rome's benefit as this should help him acclimate to the NBA game sooner. The kid has the offensive polish in his mechanics and skill set, but he just needs to feel comfortable out on the NBA floor. Getting reps in game conditions certainly helps more than just languishing on an NBA bench even if the exposure to the pro game is valuable in its own right.
