Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
Adding in James Johnson or Kelly Olynyk into the deal should cover the salary portion then.

Yeah they have lots of filler. If I were them, if it's possible to make financials work, I'd attempt to get Gallo as well. A Cp-Jimmy-Winslow-Gallo-Bam lineup could make some noise in the east.

I don't see why Presti would want to give up assets to get rid of Paul. I'd rather just keep him.

CP3 wants to contend and win chips to salvage his legacy
OKC wouldnt mind firing up the tank this season. What's the point of keeping CP3 hostage for the year, ok lets say CP3 plays alright and OKC plays above their heads and sneak into the 8th spot. Gallo is expiring, they have no cap space, so the next year is gonna be more of the same. Playoff treadmilling with a 37 year old HoF PG who's prolly salty as hell he's not traded or bought out.
Just get CP3 out of there however you can, i'd buy him out totally if he waives his 3rd year player option. I'll happily eat the 35 + 40m cap hits the next 2 seasons where im not competing, if it gets me out of the 3rd and final year.
Now it all just depends on MIA and how many FRPs they wanna try to claw out. If MIA's asking price is too extreme (IE they want the 2026 FRPs and pick swaps) then naw, id rather buy out CP3 and hold onto those picks.
OKC's only leverage over CP3 right now is how badly he wants to compete.

ADD: Now something like this makes sense. Also, the Clippers are said to be trying to trade for Iguodala and I don't see how to make the $$ work without parting with Harkless either so it might be wise not to fall too much in love with him just yet. He's kind of redundant with JaMychal.

Yeah, much better. The money doesn't matter, so why surrender the picks? If you don't want his allegedly toxic attitude around your rebuilding team [and man, is the spit hitting the fan about that], then just eat the contract rather than spend picks to dump him for a net negative return.

CP3 is a beast, so underrated (personality stuff aside). I would love to see him on Detroit with Blake and Drummond (Upgraded DJ). Lob City 2.0 in the East Coast with no Lebron or Kawhi to worry about... I could see them making noise. The media overhyped the whole CP3-Blake lob city fall out and tensions, I'm sure those guys loved each other.
BGCP3 in HD > Harden and Chris' Lame Insurance Commercials.
By a long shot. It was just way more organic. Gonna leave this here:

Yes, they did work together at first. Lob City was a reality and come to think of it, yeah, they did the comedy thing together too.
But by the end, they were in separate orbits. Chris took the right side of the court down to the elbow and Blake took the left side down to the post. It was like Hitler and Stalin dividing up Poland.

It also proves Paul's only hope is joining LeBron James with the Lakers. But it would require buying out his contract, and by doing so, he'll be admitting he's a bad person, if not validate it.

Kicking People While They're Down
Here goes the media again....
Any time someone is down on their luck, here come to tweets and "reports" that show they literally suck at everything.
CP3 never knew how to dribble a basketball, always sucked as a teammate, and NOW, after YEARS of being union president NOW, he's the worst union president of all time.
ZZZZZZzzzz
Up next:
CP3 beats his children.

Re: Chris Paul from the Rockets
what we are seeing is that CP was a much bigger part of the problem than anyone recognized
as a point guard who cannot take over a game like a Kobe or Harden or MJ, his job was to lead his troops
as a leader, he wasn't
isn't

Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
Watching game 7 Spurs at Clippers on NBA TV.
Didn’t see this game at the time.
Back and forth game all game long.
End of 3rd quarter CP3 banks in a 3. Blake comes over for a high 5.
CP3 leaves him hanging. He gives a 5 to other teammates and Blake still has his hand up.
Then they cut away.
They weren’t beefing back then were they?
