Looks like a steal, was a very solid back up for Miami

That's a steal. Only $1.5 million for someone with that much upside? Nice work, Jerry West.

Lmao you have no idea if Jerry was responsible for this lol In fact if anyone was, it probably was Doc, much to your dismay.

Regardless, this is a GREAT signing for GREAT value. Having montrez and willie coming off the bench as your back up bigs is fantastic.

Nice pickup, seemed to show improvement in his 2nd year last season.

Suddenly we have young bench guys to play- Brice, Juwan, Sindarius, Austin, and now Wille Reed. Not all are going to get PT, but some will and it's at least a start...

Let's see: Reed is an excellent value signing, relatively young, athletic, and isn't a former Celtic or a recognizable name from the 2000s Eastern Conference. So yeah, I'm pretty comfortable assuming that this is a West move, not a Doc move.

The signing of Willie Reed has the Clippers with $118.6M in salary and 13 guaranteed contracts. With a luxury tax threshold of $119.3M, Los Angeles will likely start the season in the tax. The guaranteed salary does not include second round pick Sindarius Thornwell or the non-guaranteed contract of DeAndre Liggins.

Great pickup. Didn't think we could get him for that cheap.

Wow thought our negotiations with him had ended. Dang, with Harrell and Reed coming off the bench we might have one of the most explosive front court and one of the best benches in the NBA. Awesome offseason.

Doc in the past has signed guys like Darren Collison for cheap, Cole Aldrich Luc Mbah A Moute, the first signing of Johnson was for the minimum, Felton for the min. The Clippers had also been linked to Willie Reed in the past, similar to Gallo basically every season.

I think it's a bit odd to suggest every signing that we like "Oh well that's West" and everything else is Doc.

I laughed when he said that in the player press conference. He's basically ran offenses on the backs of two great passing PG'S for the last 10 years, then before that I don't even remember what offense he had. Then in Orlando, didn't they have the TMac offense? Now to be fair for Orlando, a lot of teams ran stagnant offense back then, and they didn't have the best talent either.

Of course just about every coach says that they want more ball movement, and the Clippers improved drastically with Doc vs VDN, but I don't know what he's referring to. Maybe the first season with Boston when Rondo wasn't controlling things as much, lol

2013:

As the Celtics attempt to push away from the Rajon Rondo effect and sail more toward ball movement and shared responsibility, some of those players who perhaps suffered as a result of Rondo’s ball domination are expressing renewed optimism about increased opportunities in the offense.

Jason Terry and Brandon Bass pointed out that the new rapid ball movement the Celtics will employ now that Rondo, the league’s assist leader, is out for the season with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament, is likely more conducive to their games.

2017:

So what will be the biggest difference for the Clippers next season in terms of style of play?

"We'll have ball movement, you know," Rivers told the media on Tuesday. "That's one of the things, for the most part, that I've always preached.

"With Chris' skill you wanted to take advantage of what he could do, and he was a guy that needed the ball to make plays. And he did it so well, you kind of changed to do that."

I wasn't sure if we would get Reed. We needed a backup center and we got him for the minimum, sounds good to me. Hope to see him make some good contributions this season.

good signing. I'm surprised he was only able to get a minimum deal.

I think our depth chart now looks like this:

PG - Teodosic / Rivers / Ewans
SG - Beverly / Williams / Thornwell
SF - Gallinari / Dekker / W. Johnson
PF - Blake / Harrell / B. Johnson
C - DJ / Reed

I dont' think Ewans and Wes Johnson will get more than 2-3 mpg playing time, considering we have 4 players capable of playing PG, 4 players capable of playing SF.
