Clippers' Patrick Beverley setting lofty personal and team goals entering 2017-18 NBA season

“I’m down to 184 lbs. and five percent body fat,” Beverley said. “Two years ago, I was at 217 lbs. and last year I was at 195 lbs. I’m just continuing to change my body each year and I’m super excited. I’m steadily trimming down and trimming down so I can be as light as possible, while also staying as strong as possible. I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. I’ve never been in this great of shape. Ever. I think this is a great opportunity for me to go out there and prove some people wrong and have fun doing it. The same goes for our team. We’ve all really been pushing ourselves conditioning-wise because we all want to take our game to another level."

“We’ve been working out together for the last month and a half,” Beverley said. “We’ve been playing at the Clippers’ facility, but we’ve also been playing all together at UCLA [in the pick-up games that are loaded with stars]. Also, DJ has his boxing thing and we’ve done that. Blake is coming off of his injury; we started working out together last month. I actually just finished up today’s workout with him before you called.”

“I’ve been working a lot on being more comfortable with the ball [in my hands], being able to finish in the paint and shooting off of the dribble,” he said. “I’ve been working with Sam Cassell a lot. Of course, I’ve been working my with my trainer Jeff Pagliocca in Chicago at Evolution Athletic a lot; I’ve been working with him over the last three or four years of my career. Most of my improvement has come from my work with him. I know I’ll be on the ball more, so I’m adding things to my game like the mid-range shot and the step-back. Houston didn’t like a lot of mid-range shots or step-back shots, but the Clippers allow me to take them, so I’m getting more comfortable with those.”

Clipper Darrell Seeking Attention as Turncoat

Post#5 » by Ranma » Mon Sep 25, 2017 10:02 pm

This is why I never liked the guy. He seems more concerned about drawing attention and seeking sponsorships for himself than actually rooting for the team. Going to the Lakers' media day and basically saying that they have a better team on paper than his supposed favorite team when most everyone else including non-Clippers fans thinks otherwise reeks of attention-seeking by trying to start controversy as a turncoat.

Kinda just shows that he has no clue how to evaluate talent in the NBA, which of course I don't expect him to, so it's no big deal

Presents Opportunity for Optics to Fair-Weather Fans

Post#7 » by Ranma » Mon Sep 25, 2017 10:21 pm

It's no big deal in the sense of how little respect that court jester gets among knowledgeable and die-hard fans, but to the fair-weather fans, which Los Angeles has plenty of, it provides optics and talking points that can shift perception among the general audience, which currently thinks LaVar Ball's antics are entertaining.

The Clippers are already trying to win the PR battle in efforts to establish their own identity, but having a so-called "super fan" saying stupid stuff like that derails some of the work.

True, some people might actually take him seriously, and that would be sad

This is the same dude who cried on social media about losing Jamal etc etc. Literally knows nothing about basketball honestly. The fact he has a radio show too where he's given a platform to spout his nonsense is troubling too.

Looking very sharp in the new jerseys. And that first pic with Beverly, wow he looks pretty jacked. Pretty pumped for this season, a lot more than in the past few years.

Great pictures! Thanks for posting them!
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Might be nothing but Montrezl Harrel was shooting and making a lot of threes in the training camp video on the Clippers instagram

**** this clown. I hate that he's become the face of clipper fandom. He's a "Fame" whore who knows nothing about basketball but unfortunately his opinion on the Clippers often times becomes the opinion of the entire fanbase.

Had to see him all summer it felt like. **** him.
