Also, for those interested. Ayton vs. Robert Williams tonight on ESPN.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Sexton would be a fan favorite here. Hes right near the level of Smith Jr., Ball, Fultz, ect. from last season. Doesnt have a jumper, but he might be the most fun guy to watch in the country. Has flair, passing, scoring, intensity.

Tank for Doncic or Porter!

Post#143 » by Quake Griffin » Wed Dec 6, 2017 4:05 am

Damn.

Ayton tried to put the kid on the line for 2 and the kid threw it up.

That fouls gotta come before that though.

Edit:
He gets out of it. Kid got 2 shots only and missed one.

Tanking is very appalling no matter how you look at it. We can only hope we'll be like the Celtics, who went on a massive rebbuild post-Big 3, but they were competitive again in no time. Or we could easily go the Timberwolves or Kings route, who are still looking for their first winning season in over 10 years. Knowing our history, the latter is the route we're more likely to go. It sucks.

I agree about the tanking, esp that it usually doesn't work.

But we have to believe that the Ballmer regime will shed the stank of the Sterling era.

Also I did not know this Trae Young kid was scoring close to 30 a game for Oklahoma as a freshman. Wow.

Well the tank is sputtering the last two games, especially against teams they might have been expected to lose to.

I like him a lot. I have some post around here with him in our starting lineup next year (which was partially for giggles).

I'm not sure if I like him as a build-the-team-around-him type PG that Chris Paul was for most of his career.
I'd like to pair him with another star. That would be fantastic.

Needless to say if he fell to us, I would not mind grabbing him with the quickness.

I LOVE Trae Young, as of right now, I think I'd rather get him than Sexton or any other point guard in this draft. Hopefully we'll be in rage to do just that. He might not ever be a good defender but he does pretty much everything well offensively, and I see his skills transferring the best into the NBA.

Ayton, I like him less and less as a prospect every game, his defense is gonna be a problem you have to build your whole team around, and his offense/rebounding will not be as dominant when he has to go against a strong 6'11'' dude every night. He has the sort of motor problems that don't ever get fixed imo, and that's on both ends. He's gonna put numbers offensively, but I'm not sure how much those numbers are gonna mean.

I actually disagree on both counts, but Ayton's defense is an issue to me. Offensively, Ayton is a bit more lift away from being able to do near everything on that end of the floor. He is a dominant rebounder as well, and his motor issues have not been a problem at all and somewhat overblown. I do worry that he doesnt contest shots at the rim, as that would make him the top prospect, hands down, IMO. But I digress.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I'll be a lot more optimistic about this rebuild thing if we somehow manage to land Trae Young in the draft.

IMO, he's the most polished all-around PG prospect since CP3, and not just that, he's also the very rare type of player that can alter this franchise's destiny.

The Steph Curry comparisons do not do him justice whatsoever BTW. There's way more to his game than just outside shooting. His skill set should translate immediate to the NBA, plus he has that winning mentality too, just like CP3. I'd even support going full tank mode if he somehow slips out of the top 5(could easily happen, as he still seems a bit underrated by most), as I think he's that special.
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.
