IMO, he's the most polished all-around PG prospect since CP3, and not just that, he's also the very rare type of player that can alter this franchise's destiny.

The Steph Curry comparisons do not do him justice whatsoever BTW. There's way more to his game than just outside shooting. His skill set should translate immediate to the NBA, plus he has that winning mentality too, just like CP3. I'd even support going full tank mode if he somehow slips out of the top 5(could easily happen, as he still seems a bit underrated by most), as I think he's that special.

Only problem is that he's moving up pretty quickly on the boards. Don't know if our pick will fall into the top 10.. unless we can get the Brooklyn pick for DJ but even then the Nets are playing better than expected.

a guy hitting a bunch of 3's on a highlight reel doesn't impress me, even with distance. but those passes were quite nice, especially the last one. about how high is he expected to go?

Trae is easily going top 7 for sure, maybe even higher if he has a good tournament.

Got a chance to watch him in person when they played SC a few weeks ago, and man was I floored. To be that young, and be that complete from a PG position is amazing. He already has nothing left to prove in college basketball and he's 18, 19 years old.

As a pro, there are some question marks. He's a small 6'2, with short arms. Finishing at the rim will be an issue, beating NBA level guys consistently off the bounce, and guarding. But, those aren't red flags that would deter me from trae young when his ability is this polarizing.

Thats a pretty good synopsis and near where I am at. I need to see him more in conference, but the skills are undeniable and he can clearly make all the passes, especially out oh the PNR. I know he wants to be/play like Curry, and it was a bit off putting when I watched him in the shoe games last spring.

His physical profile is what concerns me, but hes an intriguing player.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

ESPN has been hyping him up so he's not going to slip, though he might be a college phenom who isn't able to perform in the NBA, like Jimmer Fredette or Adam Morrison.

But hey, the Clippers are 6-4 in the last 10, just 5 games under .500 and 3 games out of the #7 and #8 seeds.

And Blake is suppose to be coming back this week.

They're closer to the #5/#6 seeds than they are to the #15 seed in the West. And even further away from the #15 in the East.

So a top half of the lottery pick seems pretty low probability. Maybe top 10 but top 5 seems pretty unlikely.

Hmm, not counting this game vs. Memphis, the Clippers are just 1.5 games out of 8th place and 2 games out of 7th.

Not only could they fail to tank, they could make the playoffs and face CP3!

I keep thinking only what if this team were healthy. We're not a horrible team, just an unlucky one. We'll probably end up with a pick in the teens, worst/based case scenario we're at the end of the lottery. I personally would just like us to win and make the playoffs so we don't even have to deal with the draft lottery unless we make a trade for a pick.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Well you have to give some credit to Doc for integrating a couple of role players who seemed to have helped the team get back into playoff contention.

Currently 7th, though tied with Pelicans, who are in 6th with the identical record.

They are 1.5 games behind OKC for 5th and 5 games behind Minnesota for 4th. Spurs are in 3rd and 6 games ahead.

Longest active win streak right now. Might be tough to make up 5 or 6 games though with 38 games remaining. Those teams are going to keep winning.

Also tied with Portland who is in 8th and .5 game ahead of Denver, which is in 9th.

So for the immediate future, 5 games competing for the last 4 seeds separated by only 2 games.

Now can they sustain this run? They're getting career shooting years for Williams and Rivers right now, both shooting over 40% from 3 for the first time in their careers. Will they revert to the mean?

Will the role players they picked up continue to contribute?

Looks like they're more likely to make the playoffs than get a top 10 pick.

I get enough time on the treadmill at my gym.

Edit:
What Doc is getting out of this roster that has D-League players on it is MORE of an argument for why the NBA Draft is important to the Clippers regardless of where we are picking.

I've long since given up on tanking with our own pick and have shifted towards hoping the Cavs are desperate enough to give us the Brooklyn pick for DJ.

Lou and DeAndre for that pick and the adequate salary back?

Just DJ, not Lou. Or the Cavs can have fun trying to explain to an angry LeBron why they didn't upgrade their roster at the deadline.

i mean if we're not going to roll into the playoffs then might as well, right? rather get a top lotto pick than two first rounders from deep playoff teams.
