In one of the first few clips, Pat speaks as though it is a foregone conclusion that he will be back next year. It's been previously mentioned a couple of times that Pat is the player that the Clippers chose to feature during their Playbook events.

Pat's salary has averaged around $5M the past 2 seasons. The Clippers are around $46-47M with cap holds of Beverley ($9.5M), Zubac ($1.8M) and Motley ($0.8M) on the books. If Gallinari is moved for pure cap space, we're around $68-69M under the cap. Players like Kawhi can command ~$32.4M. If we go after KD, his max is ~$37.8M. Pat could get up to ~$8.8M in starting salary. With the bird rights of Zubac, and Motley, they could be given decent pay raises as well. The Clippers would then be left with the room exception (i.e. a 2-yr/$9.6M deal or ~$4.8M/yr) and minimum contracts.

Pat Bev is by far one of the BEST defenders in the NBA! Imagine how great our defense would've been if Luc was healthy.

Bev makes me laugh. I know he is playing very well so don't take this the wrong way. The Clippers have 3 guys putting up around 20 a night but Bev talks more than all 3 of them combined. I think they like it that way but I would not be shocked if they joke about it in the locker room :)
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

VERY interesting piece on Pat Bev. If you recall, he was playing pretty lousy early in the season. Not Avery Bradley lousy, but pretty lousy. He was not the Pat Bev we see now, our "heartbeat." Doc straightened his ass out.

https://www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/la-sp-patrick-beverley-clippers-20190409-story.html

“Early in the year we struggled with Pat,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said, “because he was struggling buying in.”

By rejecting screens on pick-and-roll plays, Beverley drove Rivers “absolutely insane.” By freelancing on defense, fueled by his reputation as one of the NBA’s most irritating defenders, he veered away from his team’s gameplan.

    Image

He and Rivers wanted the same thing — wins. But each had his own ideas about Beverley’s role and how he could best help. It took a November benching and a sit-down chat for Beverley to get back to heeding the advice he’s shared with so many. Teammates believe it is no coincidence that they have played some of the best basketball in the league since.

Rivers told Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce something similar when they formed the Boston Celtics’ championship core in 2008, and the experience helped assuage Beverley’s fears a decade later.

“[Rivers] understands my favorite player is Kevin Garnett growing up,” Beverley said. “We use that a lot, talk ‘Kevin Garnett didn’t do this, Kevin Garnett did this,’ and he helped me get out of my shell and understand that there is different ways of doing things. With that mindset, a coach being real with you, a coach being honest with you, you can’t do nothing but accept that.”

“I changed my energy, just started to become more selfless,” Beverley said. “Everything else kind of fell in place from there. Put the team first.”
