I'd rather have DJ's $20M or Thompson's $17M to sign a player with than a pick in the 20s anyday

Trade Rumor of Cavaliers Considering DJ

Post#22 » by Quake Griffin » Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:54 am

Good thing my post ITT says Thompson with the BK pick and in a completely separate paragraph with no Thompson in it, I mention the Cavs pick in the 20s.

You can continue to cross your fingers and pray for rain.
I’d rather let Jerry and our scouting dept. get busy with draft picks - something we have more control over.

I've seen nothing that includes the Nets pick. My calculus is completely different for a top 10 pick. Many HOF-quality guys were in picks 5-10, even 15. Kobe, Dirk, Steph. Kawhi. Paul Pierce. I'll eat Tristan for the Nets pick. The Cavs pick, no way. The success list is way thin after 15 and certainly after 20 or 25.

I'm also disposed to dump DJ @$20M. I'm a little afraid he WON'T opt out. So yeah, if I'd like to be rid of him period, sure, I'll take a pick in the 20s as a free bonus. But I'd rather have nothing if the price is taking Tristan. I'd rather have the cap room.

K.

So basically what I said plus arguing with yourself over Tristan + a 20s pick.

um no that's what's in every story on the internet

you're the only one talking about getting the Nets pick

IMO, the Cavs have to count LeBron as gonegonegone
their future starts with the Nets pick

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-trade-rumors-should-cavs-clippers-consider-tristan-thompson-for-deandre-jordan/

The Clippers have no young talent coming up behind Griffin, so if they were to take on Thompson they would likely require an additional asset. The Cavs would probably be unwilling to part with this year's Brooklyn pick, but they do have their own first-rounder that they could potentially include.

Trade Rumor of Cavaliers Considering DJ

Post#26 » by Quake Griffin » Mon Nov 27, 2017 2:35 am

Not rly.

Justin Russo in the OP mentions the Nets pick in one of his tweets and the Cavs poster in here did...that’s what got my mind on it.

In no way did I mention it as a means to indicate we’re anywhere close to the island that is next to the island of getting it.

In fact, my first sentence in this thread deals with the 20s pick...not the BK pick.

Keep trying.

Sorry, I don't rate Justin Russo with the major leaguers. As for you, you keep writing stuff like

"The pick in the 20s is something."

so at this point I don't even know what your point is. If you'd saddle us with 3 years of Tristan Thompson at $17M a year just to get a garbage pick in the 20s, well...I wouldn't.

My point is I mentioned Thompson with the BK pick AFTER I said Cleveland’s pick could be low 20s.

You **** on Cleveland’s pick.

I said something > nothing and you continue to argue with yourself about Tristan coming with Cleveland’s 20s pick.

um no it doesn't
please state your point in the form of a point...?

which trade would you make
which trade would you not?

I've been quite clear
your turn

you can't trade DJ unless you accept somewhat equal salary back

Not jumping when you say so.

Thnx for the lesson in how trades work in the NBA.

you have to take Tristan's 3 years at $17M per in order to dump DJ on the Cavs
that's the fact

would you do it just for their lousy 20th+ pick as the sweetener?

pretty plain

I suppose we would both do it if the Nets pick instead, so there's no disagreement there

That would be a different discussion then
I'm all ears
floor's yours

we have to take back nearly equal salary
I'll take Tristan's bad contract for the Nets pick
but not the garbage Cavs pick

Trade Rumor of Cavaliers Considering DJ

No. It would be the one going on in this thread before you went crazy about Tristan.

You can start with the OP (i mean...lol...smh) for an example of what you’re looking for.

Thread’s yours.

All of the trades currently proposed are atrocious, both in the long and short term, and will not help this franchise progress in the slightest.

The Nets pick could very easily bust, and even in a best case scenario I'm not holding my breath for it to become an impact player on DJ's level.

This is the problem with rebuilding; it can easily become a tear-down project and all your assets(some of which could actually help our franchise rebuild, but I'm not holding my breath for the front office to come around on this) get fire-saled at massive discount prices.

To say nothing of unceremoniously shopping around our longest-tenured player like he just showed up yesterday or something

This season is a fcking nightmare
I root for players always, organizations sometimes.

I don't know how I'm ever going to forgive the Clippers' new front office.
