One of my hobbies is the study of "esoteric writing," and it pays close attention to when people DON'T say what they'd reasonably be expected to. Reading this article on PG today, I also saw a red flag by his use of home "city" instead of something like "team," which you'd think would be the Lakers.

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/248483/Paul-George-I-Would-Have-Loved-Trade-To-My-Home-City

"I just stated it was somewhere I wanted to go play. You ask 80, 70 percent of guys in the league if they would love to go back home and play for their city, play for their home. That’s all I stated that I would have loved to go back home and played for my city."

I'm not much for thinking about next year when there's so much of this one left, but this point, you'd have to be tempted to let DJ walk and shed Gallo's deal somehow to make room. [Faced with letting PG walk and get nothing, if Gallo comes back healthy, OKC would have to consider a S&T.]

Could we possibly finesse the Thunder into 2 years of Gallo and a first?

As a dude also born before 1995, who also grew up loving the Clippers because of Darius Miles and them, can't help but root for the guy to come here, as unlikely as it seems.

Well, we have Michael Winger who's gotta be the guy you want to ask Presti about it without hanging up the phone right?

I feel like when he was drafted, there was tons of talk of him being a Clipper fan and now it’s not as clear.

Im watching Thunder-Lakers now and in his interview, he stressed how much of a Kobe fan he was coming up. His house was Kobe fans etc. etc.

Whatever the case, I’m not that big on getting him into a Clipper uniform.

The announcer just said they were primarily Clipper fans.

He's been purposely talking about "the city" and "LA" without specifically leaning towards the Lakers or Clippers, I'm sure when the offseason comes he and his family will happen to have loved the most whichever teams he ends up on.

Right now the Lakers have a clear path to get him, while the Clippers don't seem to have a viable way of opening space for him, so the Clippers are less likely. But the Clippers have a better team so they should be more attractive to him.

In the end, all that matters is he's a good player, so if you can get him and improve your team it's always a good idea. The rest is just filler.

Thread is about Paul George, not LeBron James.

I've been in the camp that the PG to LA thing has a bit more validity than people give it credit for. Being able to play at home, an for a competing team that with him could be pretty good is without a doubt appealing and if healthy, the roster w/PG would be really good.

I wouldn't call it likely, but I wouldn't rule us out at all and as you saw with us chasing KD and getting into his top 3, we're going to shoot our shot w/ PG and it's certainly something to keep an eye out for.

Off the fact that there's another NBA team in your city that you grew up rooting for, that isn't a trainwreck you would have to give them a look right?

I mean I'm not the biggest George fan, (His long two's and inability to get to the FT line irk me, but he's still a really good player) but the Lakers have a real chance of going like 23-59 this year. If that's the team that's favored to land george, then off the strength of Jerry West and new FO we owe it to ourselves to shoot our shot with him.

PG got an up-close and personal look at the Lakers fetuses last night in a gutless 40-point loss.

Did that only start after his horrific leg injury?

lol course you do, you're a Lakers fan quoting a Lakers beat writer misquoting George in order to pander to other Laker fans.

Lakers do have the history, and more importantly they have a clear road map to signing him, so it's way more likely he goes there. But you're fooling yourself if you think his family rooting for this team or that other one means anything, just like him saying he was a Clipper fan when he was young doesn't mean much. That's not gonna stop him milking it for whichever side he ends up on though.

And milking both LA teams for leverage with OKC if things are working out OK there.
