Interesting, but not surprised. Would've obviously preferred Ty, but if it's at the same contract that was offered to Wallace, it's a good one.

Well Ty will get his new deal in the summer. I read that some execs believe he could get 3 years 9 mil. CJ might just be for min.

CJ earned a multiyear contract. Glad to see we have started with the offseason moves before the season ended.

3 year deal. Does that mean this year (2 more days :) ) + 2 more seasons ?

Meh. He's a body. He just turned 28--what you see is what you get.

He averaged 5.3 points on 44.6% shooting, 31% from three-point range.

Fortunately, it's only somewhat of a contract, not a real one. But I'm glad to see him get a few bucks. This seems more like a reward for being a good soldier.

Williams' deal is not fully guaranteed, but he will receive some compensation for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, according to the official.

Good value deals are what you always want to get, I never have complaints about those. He's shown he can be a rotation wing, that's good to have for cheap.

Congrats to CJ, he's earned a place in this league. Also virtually risk-free for the Clippers. Next step is to re-sign Ty at a good price.

it's really not a 3 year deal tho, only the first year is guaranteed for CJ. it's a slave contract for him tho. if he works out, we get to keep him for cheap. if he doesn't, we dump him for nothing. not cool if I was his agent. cool since I am a clipper fan first.
ehhhhh f it.

From what I gather even next year is only partially guaranteed. What the Clips were able to do for CJ though was to give him some extra $$ in pay for this year, since we're $545K under the cap.

Every little bit helps for a journeyman. He may never play in the NBA again, and frankly we need to keep up our reputation for dealing with 2-way guys.

If I'm right, for us to funnel a half-million to him off the sal cap books was pretty clever and Ballmer's hired some pretty clever sal cap dudes for the FO. We only have one plan right now, and that's to keep the sal cap books as clean as possible in case the next Chris Paul drops in our lap.

It's probably the same deal Ty Wallace turned down, and had to be executed before season's end so we could dig into whatever was left under this year's cap. Ty was clearly the better of the two, and although I can usually figure out Front Office reasoning, not converting Ty Wallace's 2-way contract has mystified me.

There's a lot here nobody's talked about. I may question whether Ty's a rotation player on a real contender but we were so desperate for guard help that I do think he may have made the difference in us making the playoffs had he played those 5 or 6 games between March 10 and 24th.

Clippers’ C.J. Williams went from a near HR job to having an NBA contract

While Williams is happy with the deal, I asked him why he decided to sign with the Clippers this late in the season when the potential to get a bigger deal in restricted free agency this summer could have brought itself to the table. His answer was simple. It wasn’t about the money. It was about the love, the fit, and the stability he would get from the deal.

“The feeling that I’ve gotten from everyone in the organization from, top to bottom, is that they like me and they wanted me around,” said Williams. “I feel that that fit is better than testing the waters sometimes. Sometimes, you just want to be able to know that you’re loved or liked somewhere, and you want to stay there. The guys on the team, I enjoy being around them. I enjoy going to war with them every night and that definitely played a big factor into it.”

“This summer is about getting better and bringing something else to the table. Everybody here knows what I can do in the game. I want to add something to my game so I can come back next year with more to be able to help the team. I’m definitely gonna work on ball handling. I have to be able to bring the ball up and set something up for the team, be able to attack off the dribble.”
