Im definitely going back to watch film. If anyone finds any full games of BC, would love to see them posted so we can review him.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

1st Impression on Jerome Robinson
From my understanding, he's a natural scorer and efficient high-volume shooter. While he lacks lateral quickness and length to be a lock-down defender or the quick-twitch first-step and explosive athleticism to be a shot-creator or ISO player, he supposedly has good instincts as a scorer who works within the flow of the offense.

Everything I read on him is that. Ive also seen many compare him to Allonzo Trier, which....... Ill just leave that alone until I see for myself. That said, from what I have seen for myself, they are a bit different offensively. Trier has a bad habit of holding the ball and then creating. Dont think Robinson does that as much, which bodes well for his shot creation, and especially for his creation for others and offensive continuity.

Late bloomer of Jamal Murray. A man can hope right?

Re: The draft/college experts "please sell me on Robinson" thread
I can offer zero insight, because I literally said "who?" when we picked him.
Having read up on him now, I can see him being a really good sixth man in the Jamal/Lou mold. He's a one trick pony, but he does that trick exceptionally well.
From a value standpoint, I don't like it. We could have traded down and gotten him. That makes him a bad value pick, but not a bad player. He can play.
What our draft tells me is:
1. We are expecting Milos to opt out
2. We aren't planning to make any effort to retain Avery Bradley
3. Austin isn't in our plans beyond this year
4. We don't view Jawun and Sindarius as anything more than rotation players, if that

Good Movement with ball and off-ball, breaks defenses, very good shooter with beautiful mechanic, quick first step and apperently his passing skills impressed our FO on workouts.
If only he can go to the rim and take fouls efficiently...

I think the high end outcome you hope for would be like CJ McCollum. A undersized efficient scoring smart all around combo guard. He doesn’t have great athleticism or physical attributes to contribute much in other areas like on the boards or defense. U just hope he can become adequate so he can be a overall positive if he can be efficient offensively.
There are full games of his on YouTube vs duke, Norte dame, Syracuse.
Personally this is troubling to me for the front office just from the aspect they didn’t take the risk to be great with porter jr, who has the highest potential outcome despite the risks. Also their interest in Robinson was telegraphed. The other GMs got a read on West so easily.

He killed his workouts and moved up the draft board like crazy. Shades of Dame Lillard and Klay Thompson.. but we'll see. I'm trusting Jerry West on this one.

If true, what harm did that do? What did it cost us?

It’s generally not good to let your intentions known for multiple reasons. One being teams can jump ahead of you. Dig deeper on why u might like them. Although in this case other teams probably consider it a reach because Robinson was looked at mainly by teams later than the Clips. Also U can fake interest like Hawks in Doncic to get teams to trade up to ur position for someone they do like. Jerry being so obviously interested in Robinson let teams know they could get their guy without taking the Clippers into consideration.

I mean, would anybody be mad if he ended up being a taller CJ McCollum? At least he'd have a tall lanky defender next to him in the back court

Re: The draft/college experts "please sell me on Robinson" thread
I'm typically looking for an athletic advantage (quickness, hops, first step, lateral movement).
If not, I look for natural body advantage (length, height being unusual for position).
If neither, the player needs a unique set of skills or a skill that sets him a part....Nash, Curry.
Jerome is falling into the 3rd category FOR ME....the one I tend to like the least, particularly if it isn't paired with much of the other 2...Plus, is he ever going to end up being a plus defender?
Looks like the "I hate this pick" vs . the "Hmmm...I'm intrigued" sides have been drawn on this forum.
These, undoubtedly, will grow into two camps that will never see eye to eye.
Put me in the latter group. Wonder what Jerry and this FO saw.
Prove me wrong Romy Rome

McCollum is a very good player so if he ends up being that good I’d be very happy

In those highlights his game does remind me of McCollum quite a bit

It depends on if he defends like McCollum. But given Shai's height and arm length, we may just be able to hide him on the lesser player on certain nights.
Now, this is where I think the argument for Patrick Beverly's value to our team comes in (I still would have dealt him for a pick if I had the chance). Patrick is a mean, relentless competitor. It's likeable because he doesn't discriminate. He guards everybody with maximum effort from Russell Westbrook to punking Lonzo Ball in his first game. I'm willing to bet he's gonna take that approach and "haze" Shai and Jerome on the basketball court until they start to compete on that level.

Standing reach of 8'2"
For reference, JJ Redick had a standing reach of 8'1.5"
If you're wondering why he's giving Klay Thompson NO trouble and Klay Thompson is giving him all of the trouble in the world, look no further.
