So like, with Capela, Nurkic, and Jabari still on the market, and the only teams with more than MLE cap is ATL, CHI, SAC, all of which have no need for Trez.

Who's the main teams we have to worry about stealing him with a fat offer sheet? Seems to be good odds he'll be coming back on the QO? I mean if i had alot of cap and need a big i'd take a swing at the top 3 names first. If i'm one of those aforementioned 3 i'd be freaking out and want to ink a deal asap somewhere or risk getting Noeled.

Mr. Hann goes into great detail and seems fairly confident that we'll be able to keep both players, and for peanuts no less. Can't really say what would be a fair price for Trez (less than 4 mil per year seems low to me), but I can say that Ty not getting a minimum contract from someone would be downright criminal.

I don't get the Ty Wallace love. 12.3 points per 36 minutes, shot 25% from 3 [and about the same in G-League]. with an assists-to-turnover ratio of 3.0 to 1.9.

A shooting guard who can't shoot or even handle the ball, and is already 24. :dontknow:

If either of our 2 new draftees put up numbers like that, we'll being calling them a bust--and they'll stil be only 21 or 22.

Not sure if you meant for it to be, but your final line is the answer to your question.

People *always* regard players in relation to the size of their contract and their draft position, rather than on their merits. Ty Wallace came out of nowhere and was exciting, reasonably productive, and a nice feel-good story. If SGA (who's, um, a really similar player if we're being honest) is similarly exciting and productive and no more, people will grumble within the first month of his career because he cost us a lottery pick. I always think back to Donyell Marshall, who was a really nice role player, but everyone thought he sucked because he was a high draft pick and had a ludicrously overvalued contract.

Coaches, it should be noted, aren't thinking about contract and draft position when they point at a guy to get in the game. That's the GM's job. One of the hundred reasons I disdain the idea of the Coach/GM role.

Even stipulating he's a plus defender and an OK rebounder, what does even a rebuilding team [or especially a rebuilding team?] need with a SG who can't shoot and is a minus in playmaking? Do you have a comp out there?

Why give him a minute of PT with so much invested in Shai and Jerome?

I'm agreeing with you on Ty being redundant at this phase. Just responding about why fans evaluate players on a curve relative to contract and draft position.

A fair contract for both the Clippers and Montrezl Harrell on the two year, $12 million contract. The forward was staring down the $1.8 million qualifying offer and will now see that number triple. The short-term contract also allows Harrell to enter free agency in 2020 when the salary cap is expected to rise to $116 million. The Clippers also stay below the projected luxury tax by $500K but now have a decision when it comes to the roster. Los Angeles now has 16 guaranteed contracts, not including the non-guaranteed salary of Patrick Beverley and CJ Williams.

Good contract! I just wished we gave him 3 years at 6 mil/year so we could've locked him up in the down market that was this offseason. He thrives with good creators like Lou and Milos. Also SGA and Jerome will be entering that category of good creators as well. Now.. who the hell are we gonna trade to rectify this log jam in the front/backcourt. Because we have a DEEP 3rd string rotation as of right now with guys who are gonna need minutes. Actually.. this team has some seriously injury prone guys. I imagine we'll be at a point in the season where Dekker is starting

Solid deal. Looks like the posters predicting 20 million over 3 years were pretty close.

I immediately went to watch highlight videos of Montrezl from this past year after hearing this. Not that I needed to be reminded of how good of a player he is, I just wanted something to smile at, and watching Montrezl play basketball does just that. So glad he's back!!!

Very nice deal, I wonder what the hold up was, maybe he wanted more years or more money, but I guess teams with cap space dried up for him to find a competing offer, and the interest just wasn't there. Great guy, great energy, will be interested to see if he is capable of being a higher minutes player.
