Moving into a new building sounds like it was already operating in NY. Moving it’s principle place of business would make sense to me as a rumor. Even signaling that he’s increasing his presence in NY would be better.

Could be innocently misleading or it could be slick talk to get slipped passed everybody who wants to click and wants the clicks.

Regardless, if Neddu moved his dental practice to LA from Oregon, my wording would be that he moved his business to LA....not that he moved to a new building in LA.

For the record, the same article also points out that KD has been house hunting in Beverly Hills. It may very well come down to the Warriors, the Knicks, or us for Durant.

Durant is a great player--but I think he's kind of a thin-skinned guy. I really don't see him dealing well with the New York media, who are pretty brutal. I remember when David Lee said this:

"Yeah, New York," he started, laughing quietly to himself. "New York, I think, is the greatest place to play in the world when you're winning. And it might be one of the worst to play in when you're losing. No matter what the sport, whether you're a Yankee or a Knick."

If New York got KD and didn't win a championship--or wasn't at least in the finals--within two years, I think the press would be all over him. That could end really badly.

Keep stocking the assets so that there’s more ways for their capped out team to get better than....

Well it was sign Austin (trash) or some other trash, so we signed Austin (again trash).

Draft and hire a new coach.
Maybe we’d offer Anthony Davis??? But I doubt it.

I doubt Doc will stick around to coach up a bunch of young guys to a title.

Maybe Spo will want to come on over.

https://raptorsrapture.com/2019/01/28/toronto-raptors-roundup-concerned-leonard-rest-schedule/

The Raptors played two of four games this week without star forward Kawhi Leonard, as he continues his rest schedule. Both the Raptors and Leonard have assured inquiring minds that there is no injury and that this was done strictly for load management reasons. The hopes are clearly that this rest stretch in January will pay off in the spring.

In total, Leonard has missed 14 games so far this year, with the Raptors going 11-3. As the rest schedule hasn’t hamstrung the Raptors too much, fans are most likely supportive of the organization’s strategy for the all-star. The rest schedule, being directed in concert by Leonard, the front office and a world-class physiotherapist in Alex McKechnie, enhances both the Raptor’s chances at finding success in the playoffs as well as re-signing Leonard.

However, on court chemistry problems between Lowry and Leonard are beginning to show and time may be beginning to run out with only 32 games remaining...

however...

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25989931/raptors-kawhi-leonard-dealing-sore-knee-play-vs-wizards

The Toronto Raptors were without Kawhi Leonard on Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards because of a sore knee.

It was unclear when Leonard injured the knee or when it became apparent for the Raptors.

Leonard, averaging 27 points and 7.7 rebounds, has been held out to rest periodically throughout the season as the Raptors carefully manage his minutes. He missed most of last season with a quadriceps injury.

It's smart. Kawhi is healthy and can go 100% in the playoffs. Although it was unexpected how strong the East top tier was gonna be with PHI and MIL making some strong moves and BOS playing much better than before. A coupla extra wins might be another seed or two, but regardless TOR has played well without him.

Also if TOR doesnt goto the Finals i've a strong feeling Kawhi is coming to LAC. He can pair up with a 2nd superstar and the Logo has compiled enough assets to make a solid offer for AD. NOP might just trade AD to LAC similar to how CP3 came to be (haha talk about the cycle is now complete).

Clippers could legit field

C- Zubac, Harrell
PF- AD
SF- KD
SG- Kawhi, Robinson
PG- Room Exception

I see Gallo and Lou WIll going out to get extra assets (i see CHA as a good target they need good vets and have a reasonable FRP thats obtainable AND Mitch Kupchak is the Logo's boi and im sure the 2 of em would love to find a way to screw over the LAL and BOS) needed to add to the Clipper package of SGA + Shamet + 2019 LAC FRP + 2020 PHI prot FRP + 2021 MIA FRP

Now... of course i cant stress enough how important it is for LAC to miss the playoffs, without that #12-14 range FRP is a good asset to make the package look better.

LAL is in utter turmoil and BOS i dont think is gonna trade Tatum, its the perfect time for the Logo to swoop in and steal AD from their midsts.

how can we sign the max free agents with current cap space?
-According to Sportrac, our practical cap space is $59.6M, which requires us to renounce all cap holds.
-NBA currently projects a $109M cap for 2019-20. Which would translate into following starting salaries:

Kevin Durant: $38.1M (4 year $164M max contract)
Kawhi Leonard: $32.7M (4 year $140M max contract)
Kyrie Irving: $32.7M (4 year $140M max contract)
Jimmy Butler: $32.7M (4 year $140M max contract)
Klay Thompson: $32.7M (4 year $140M max contract)
Kemba Walker: $32.7M (4 year $140M max contract)
Demarcus Cousins: $32.7M (4 year $140M max contract)

If these assumptions are correct, what would be our move to clear more space?
Could we hypothetically trade Harrell to clear additional $6M off the books, sign Kawhi & Kyrie, and then trade Gallo + young player + picks for AD ?

Disclaimer: I don't believe we should hand out a max contract to any player other than Kawhi, Kyrie or KD (even if he'd be 34 in the last year of the contract)

While these scenarios are awesome, I will throw in my partial objection (AGAIN) to them and the overall prospect of selling out for free agency means.

It means that more than likely, you have a 5 year window to win. You aren’t building a dynasty. You aren’t building a sustainable contender, you are building up to maximize a 5 year period.

If this is all the Clippers are about....whoring ourselves out at the prospect of FAs, Super Teams, etc. ala Magic Johnson, count me out. If we’re maximizing the draft and FA....if we’re looking for our Luka (hell...our own Kawhi or Giannis with our draft position) and trying to sign these top guys, count me in.

I want a 15 year Spurs run.
Not a 4 year Miami run.
Not a 4-5 year Docs Celtics run.

Bringing in KD (top 15 player all time), AD (top 25 player all time) and KL (top 10 player today) all in one offseason would be the biggest offseason for a team in NBA history.

I do have one question though. If KD is looking to establish his own legacy by leaving GS why would he jump from one super team to another?

I'm not a big fan of the mercenary days of the NBA. I liked it more in the old days when teams built from within and the legends stayed most their careers with one team. There was FA but it was not so drastic as it is lately. Bird was a Celtic. Magic was a Laker. Jordan was a Bull (yeah I know, lol), Duncan and Drob were Spurs.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

AD Speaketh

Post#377 » by Ranma » Sat Feb 16, 2019 4:04 pm

Anthony Davis trying to spin things with meaningless soundbites. He says there's a list but that all other 29 teams are on it. Then says he didn't submit a list. Who did? Rich Paul? He says he wants to win and is willing to play anywhere but will see what happens before he decides whether to re-sign with whichever team trades for him.

All this does is confirm that his agent has been manipulating things in favor of his top client who currently plays for the Lakers. AD trying to do damage control isn't really doing much in that regard. All he's saying is that he'll play out the remainder of his contract with any team and will re-sign or sign with whichever team will give him a legitimate chance to win, which means he does have a preferred list of teams whether that is an internal mental one or one enumerated on a piece of paper.

Gotta be honest.

As a fan. I don’t want to play the villain again until we are a legitimate title contender.

Anthony Davis smells like 5 years of Clipper hate and ridicule every year we don’t win.
