Not feeling it I rather give every penny left to Harrell. The direction of the team is strange we are either going to make a deal for KL or we are trying to compete and in up with a low lotto pick.

I love it! I missed Luc last year. He could also be another good trade chip at the deadline if things go south for the team.

Better Not Be One Over the Other

Post#7 » by Ranma » Mon Jul 9, 2018 10:40 pm

I'll be upset if we lose Harrell just for the sake of signing Luc, but I doubt that'll be the case. Harrell would have to get an outrageous offer for us not to match it. Having Luc to go along with Beverley and Bradley would make for an impressive lock-down defensive unit. And if we can somehow add Kawhi to that...goodness gracious.

I am, however, concerned with our roster count since we're already over the limit even if we factor in trading or buying out Teodosic. This has the makings of a trade coming up but there has been no word indicating such activity is on the horizon. The only talk we've been involved in has been our pursuit of Kawhi Leonard, but the Spurs reportedly think our assets are crap. Maybe they've come to their senses, hopefully?

Roster Crunch

The signing of Luc Mbah a Moute now has the Clippers with 14 guaranteed contracts and 3 players, Milos Teodosic, Patrick Beverley and CJ Williams that are partially/non-guaranteed. The $6.3M ($2.1M guaranteed) Teodosic contract becomes guaranteed if the guard is not waived by July 15. Los Angeles now has $118M in salary, $5.7M below the tax with restricted free agent Montrezl Harrell unsigned. The Clippers are also $11.8M below the hard cap.

Some half way decent defensive lineups to trot out this year.

So... if Milos is out, who else gets cut? or traded if Harrell is back

I guess they'd love to get Wallace back as a 2-way if that's on the table, I thought teams would go after him but hasn't happened, so if he and Delgado stay as such...

Beverley-Williams-Evans
SGA-Bradley-Robinson-Thornwell-Wallace
Harris-LRMAM-CJ-Dekker
Gallinari-Scott-Johnson
Gortat-Harrell-Marjanovic-Delgado

I'd cut Wes, I know he is pricey but you are gonna have to pay him regardless, I doubt there is a way to dump him, ideally you try to dump him with one of the young pieces (Evans, Dekker, or Thornwell) to get a 2nd or something

But you need to drop another 2 bodies

I mean, moving 2 of those 3+Wes in a trade, for whatever, would be ideal I guess

Frank recently said that the plan is to keep Milos. My guess is that means Wes or Dekker will be cut.

I think Harrell is insisting on a multi-year deal.

Bluffing at the Card Table?

I'm curious, though, if Frank was just trying to drum up trade interest from teams who were waiting for us to just cut him. After all, Milos was informed prior to him opting in that he would be cut by the Clippers. Maybe things changed with LeBron going to the Lakers and the Kawhi trade talks on the back burner.

I'm fine with keeping or trading Milos, but I don't see the point of having him when he doesn't look to have a long-term future here and with him knowing that.

That was one report from an outlet with a spotty track record. Doesn't mean it actually happened.

Milos is a fantastic floor general. He's the perfect veteran player for SGA to learn from on offense. Milos might not be the future of the Clippers, but he can still help the future of the Clippers.

We are sitting at 17 players.

and our backups to our 34 year old starting center are Boban and 6'8" Mike Scott.
If we are not going to sign Harrell, we could perhaps package Boban, Wes Johnson and Sam Dakker to Chicago for Robin Lopez.

The new Clippers philosophy: Character people who play the game hard and play the game right. It's an attractive environment for prospective FAs, and we have to start thinking about getting Tobias to re-sign. Tobias is a higher priority than punking the season to keep what would still probably turn out to be a pick in the teens.

I think it's worth a shot. I love Chris but he's kind of an a-hole; DJ played hard but not with intensity; and of course Blake had his Blake thing. They just were never all on the same page culturally, emotionally. Just not a Band of Brothers.

Plenty of time to figure out the roster. A team can test out Dekker, Evans, and Williams for the year, should they feel like giving them a shot. If not, CJ is likely to be waived, Milos waived, and then someone can take a flier on Dekker or Evans if they so choose. Dont think it is unreasonable to think a bad team, or one with a lot of open roster spots, might have interest.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.
