This sucks. He's missed 2 days of work in 40 years! He's the guy that hooked me on the Clippers broadcasts as a 12 year old with no TV and made me a fan. He's one of the more known and legendary broadcasters in the NBA, I have no doubt he will be honored some day by the HOF. His seemingly orgasmic phrases included "Bingo!", "Oh me oh my!" and "It's the Law!" In reference to first to 100 points wins. You will be missed Ralph. Hope this last season can be special for ya in some way. His memory seemed to be going the last couple years, so it's the perfect time I suppose.

Is this the guy that says "BINGOOOOO" and "OH ME OH MY!" If so, sad day for Clippers nation. A lot of people think his catchphrases are goofy, but it gave watching the Clippers some personality. No matter how many times DeAndre Jordan blocks a shot he always sounds just as enthusiastic every single time, always gave consistent energy throughout a broadcast.

This is him. He has a lot of energy for a guy in his 80s

Love Ralph Lawler!! One of the real pros...

The NBA has had so many great play by play guys over the years and LA was blessed to have both Chick and Ralph on the mic.

Bittersweet..

I liked both of their broadcasters who were there two years ago before Bowen joined Lawler last season, what happened with the other dude?
Celtics fan.
We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.

It's inspiring to see these guys like this still loving what they do in their 80's and beyond. Clippers games always felt familiar because his voice was such a constant. And if games didn't start so late I'm sure I would have watched much more over the years. Man is a living legend.

Definitely a legend. Growing up in LA since the 80s, he and the Clippers were overshadowed by the Lakers and Chick Hearn. But he had such an endearing personality. Like you knew he knew the Clippers sucked (pre-CP3 mostly) but you were still going to enjoy watching them as long as he's on the mic. He and Bill Walton made a great team.

Ralph is the textbook definition of a Homer broadcaster; he always took shots at my Lakers whther they were winning or losing. I've always despised the slippers and never understood how people could follow them because of all their horrible teams, draft busts hijinxs, gimmicky coaches, wasted seasons, etc..but I have to give it to Ralph. he really stuck by his team even though "Lawlers Law" rarely worked in his favor. he gave it his all for his teams fans. i actually thought he was decent when he teamed with big Bill Walton (early mid 90s) and that era had a lot of comical on-air chemistry. he did his job well and made Laker fans like myself hate him and his team even more. good luck Ralph, you earned it, you'll be missed

He and Bill Walton together, were usually better than the game it's self.

Seriously, pissiest broadcasting duo pre-Bowen. There are worse broadcasters who are just annoyingly explicitly homers, but Lawler and the other dude were always passive aggressively taking shots but never owning them. Fit the personalities of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin perfectly.

Knew he was old, but wouldn't have guessed 80. He was a reason I'd tune in to Clippers games sometimes when I just wanted background noise, really gonna miss him.

Mike Smith was the other guy. Horrible homer who allegedly hated Ralph off the mic. He’s a bum.
