How much, if at all, will Kawhi match up against AD?

you deal with anthony davis the way he's been dealt with for the past several years.

build a team that's good enough beat his team. and that's what the clippers have done.

He's become Kevin Love in Minnesota overrated at this point. Great numbers that haven't meant a thing as far as impact on wins.

i wouldn't go so far to say he's overrated. just saying like any other player, they're only as good as their team.

so hemming and hawing about how to beat and match up with anthony davis in a vacuum imo isn't very productive. at the end of the day when the teams play there will be give and take, and the team that's smarter about that and better overall is the one that's gonna win.

and if you ask me it'll be this LA team, and not the other one.

Will, I certainly say he's overrated since he's being called one of the top 5 players in the league to which I don't agree with at all.

I think You're exaggerating a bit. He's way better than what love ever was and with LeBron he's going to have an impact

No Kuzma for opening night. The battle is going to be Lebron and AD vs Kawhi and Lou/Harrell we have to see who outside of the pairs breaks out.

Those are raw numbers in a head to head matchup. It's not fair to use those numbers.

I'm curious what the advance analytics say.

I don't think ad is as good as people say he is. People make it sound like he's the second coming of Shaq. I think he's a poor man's kg. Kg was a guy who couldn't win but at least he got his team into tje playoffs multiple years and even went to an WCF

AD as exceptionally skilled he is, hasn't really had playoff success. Kevin love hadn't been in the playoffs prior to being on the Cavs

Just to show how head matchups are fallacious

https://www.landofbasketball.com/games_between/demar_derozan_vs_kawhi_leonard.htm

DeMar DeRozan is statically better in head to head with kawhi.

Going by raw numbers doesn't do a great job of illustrating skill level of a player. AD is better than love.

Point being, as good as everyone is saying he is, his resume doesn't support that especially since he's supposed to be this transcendent talent. Also, big men are usually relegated to jump shooters playing with LeBron so, we'll see what happens this year.

Not comparing but just remember the numbers Bosh was putting up before playing with LeBron and having to end up being a stretch 4 next to LeBron

They played each other roughly even. Had there been a huge disparity that might be argued as significant. But they didn't, so you move on from the null result. But it's good to at least look at these things.

Hey, AD is better. He made 3 all-defense teams, even the first team once. But I think it's fair to put them in the same tier: Guys who put up similar numbers but neither of whom was able to carry their teams to the playoffs most years, let alone succeed there. He's gonna get his 25 and 12, but I'm not afraid of AD either.

AD is a better rebounder than bosh was and although he was a solid PNR with LeBron, ad is much better in this regard. Bosh is a better 3pt shooter if I had to guess

But you're right in saying people sing his praised for someone that hasn't accomplished much. I don't think he's top 5 but I do think he's top7

All my top fives actually have accolodes.

1. Kawhi(2x champion/2xfvmp, 2xdpoy)
2. Giannis (MVP, 60 win team last yr. Ecf appearance
3. LeBron( hes LeBron)
4.steph curry(3x champion, 2x league MVP, best shooter of all time

5. James harden(league MVP)

Ad is number 6 or 7 for me. Because of his talent but I don't think he has the Moxy to win as the guy. He's not a leader tbe same was Paul George isn't a leader. They're secondary on championship teams.

I see what you're saying. I just think he's better than him by a country Mike even if they both put up empty stats.

I actually agree with skip Bayless about ad. I don't think he knows what he's in store playing with LeBron and playing with championship expectations and playing in Los Angeles.

How is he going to handle adversity in the playoffs? He seems like a dude that says all the right stuff. He wants to be in a position to win but we'll see.

I personally don't buy it. And even if they do win it all this year or next yr, I don't think his post LeBron career will be stellar. He's going right back to irevelancy, posting big numbers. His team might make the playoffs but they won't win a championship with him being the main piece

Another thing no one is talking about is, the Lakers don't have closers. LeBron has never been a REAL closer, just by default but that's why Irving and Wade handled those duties while playing with him.

And AD usually puts up his numbers in the first 3 quarters and fades when the game matters. Gonna be interesting to see how that plays out.

Stop it. LeBron is a closer. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean hes not a closer. He's more Tom Brady than Jordan.

Meaning LeBron makes 4th quarter rallies over game winning shots but even then so he has made high pressure shots especially when he's went back to Cavs

A better question is who is the closers on the clippers? We have three but in most cases you'll need a dominant go to guy.

Paul George sh*t on his teammates cj miles for taking the last shot. Will be be comfortable with Lou will or kawhi Leonard getting a lion share of last shots? Or will he life with the results and not get moody?

He was the guy in okc. Westbrook made sure to make him the guy with the ball in his hands dor last second shots. But he won't get that luxury here.

Bruh, even LeBron fans will say he isn't a closer. Not Stans but fans. It's not a knock on how great of a player he is or has been but he's not a closer

Its just inaccurate. Especially Late in his career to say this guy is not a closer. you can sleep on his ability to close, doesn't make what you're saying true. Just go look at the last season in Cleveland the difficulty of those shots. The Toronto game winner and Indiana were in the playoffs

inaccurate.

he's historically been really good in clutch moments. and he doesn't need a billion shots like other players to make his mark.

People who say lebron isn't a closer are people who watch hot take shows and take their word for it and/or don't watch the nba season or even the po season. they just catch bits and pieces.

Imagine living in 2019 and saying lebron doesn't close.
