****, there's gotta be some 6'7" wing that can hit a three with the potential to make our roster.
Lord knows we've been out of it for about a decade.

39% on 2 threes per game last year.

Mann’s time at FSU is arguably the most successful four-year stretch in Seminole history, featuring three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16s, one Elite 8, a trip to the ACC Tournament Championship game, a school record 29 wins in one season, and turning the Donald L. Tucker Center into one of the hardest places for opponents to steal a win in the entire country. And he did it all with a mega-watt smile on his face and willingness to do whatever his coaches and teammates needed him to do in order to be successful.

Not dominant in any one traditional statistical category, Mann left his mark as the ultimate box score stuffer. Whether it was throwing down a rim rocking dunk on an offensive rebound, blocking a shot on help defense, tossing a lob to waiting teammate, leading the fast break, or hitting a game winning shot, Mann could do it all.

As the son of a coach, Mann credits his mother for his high basketball IQ and strong work ethic; and what a work ethic it was.

Like Sindarius as a team leader, NCAA tournament success, but not undersized [6'7"] and he can shoot a bit. Just can't see the Clips picking up Thornwell's guarantee now, or Ty's either.

Clippers draft pair from Florida State, take Mfiondu Kabengele 27th, Terance Mann 48th

With the 48th pick, the Clippers selected Kabengele’s Florida State teammate, 6-6 small forward Terance Mann. The 22-year-old reportedly impressed scouts with his versatility and ability to move without the ball during his performance at the G League combine earlier this week.

Meanwhile, last season at FSU, Mann averaged 11.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and shot 50.5 percent from the field.

“We’re always looking for big wings,” Frank said of Mann, whom one of the Clippers scouts has known since the player was in 7th grade. “And Terance is a terrific playmaker, a very good defender and has improved his shooting each year.”

Said Kabengele of his still-teammate: “Terance Mann was everything, a leader, poised and calm. He is someone that I looked up to throughout this whole process. He took me under his wing when I first got to Florida State University. And then how he (carried) himself in Tallahassee, I tried to do the same thing.

“We can contribute to the culture that you guys already have.”

Didn't we do that a few years ago and selected two teammates for pretty much no reason other than they were teammates?

a) one of our scouts knew him since he was 7
b) no doubt, watching tons of video on Fi, it was hey that other guy looks pretty good too

he's taller and already shoots better than Sindarius
and will be cheaper than Sindarius' $1,618,520

Mann, the latter, is a 6’6″ swingman capable of playing and defending multiple positions, at least at the college level. His style of play and strengths fit in well with what the LA Clippers have going on, given his two-way potential and high basketball IQ.

In his final season at Florida State, Mann posted averages of 11.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 31.7 minutes per game. He also connected on 39.0 percent of his three-point attempts this past season, something he will surely look to capitalize on as he potentially makes his move to the NBA.

The Ringer’s latest mock draft notes Mann as being a “high-character” athlete, who makes a difference in his community and loves basketball.

Mann will be 23 years old by the time the 2019-2020 NBA season begins, so questioning his upside seems fair, but his strengths will likely carry well into the big leagues. With the ability to defend multiple positions, he’s exactly the kind of versatile player that these Clippers seem to love so much.

Terance Mann has a shot at being a huge steal. It’s contingent on one and only one thing; was his 3 point shooting last year a fluke? If it was, he’s a high motor, good attitude guy that defends multiple positions but basically makes you play 4 on 5 on offense. That’s a 12th man.

But if it wasn’t a fluke, he’s DeMarre Carroll.

Sidebar. I live in Columbia, MO. I saw Carroll play a lot in college. I work at a small university, so I’m distantly acquainted with his uncle, who’s a coach. DMC improved during his college career and added a three point shot his senior year, which scouts thought was fluky. Son/nephew of a coach, great motor and attitude, four year college player, added a three at the end of his college career… sound familiar? He was projected as a second rounder; the Grizz caught flak for drafting him at 27. And when he got minimal minutes with teams that clearly didn’t believe his skill set, his critics looked right.

Except DMC’s range was not a fluke. I kept saying to people, “He can hit threes off the dribble and catch and shoot—if someone will let him.” Then someone did and he’s had a nice NBA career. (And, btw, he’d be a nice, cheap sleeper pickup for us now.)

I think the difference in size and position between DMC and Mann is the difference in where they were projected and drafted … a 6’8/6’9” Tweener forward that may be able to hit threes is more valuable than a 6’6” Tweener SG/SF that may be able to hit threes. The range is more of a necessity at SG/SF. But the similarities in background and attitude and ability are pretty striking. So if Mann’s range is the real deal, or develops into the real deal, he’s our DMC. And that would be great.

Peachtree Hoops Scouting Report

Zach Hood, PeachTreeHoops.com (4/30/19)
This is likely the key to Mann making it in the NBA, as he struggles to create his own shot, so if he can’t hit the three-point shot at a consistent rate, he will really have to be elite to hang around on defense alone. Mann can battle on the defensive end, but if he’s going to become a solid rotation player in the NBA, he’ll need to replicate what he did as a senior and shoot the three at ~35% or above on a higher volume of attempts. If he can do that and compete on defense like he did in the ACC, there will be a spot for him on an NBA roster.

Mann really does finish really well inside for his size, with 1.27 points per possession at the rim in 2019, one of the highest marks of any wing in the class. For reference, DeAndre Hunter ranked 26th in points per possession at the rim, Mann ranked 29th, and Jarrett Culver ranked 37th among the top players in this year’s class.

Mann was a staple in the lineup for Leonard Hamilton from day one because of his length, physicality and competitiveness on the defensive end. The wing often drew the tougher assignments, and managed to hold his own on a number of occasions. He was first on the team in overall win shares (5.1) as well as offensive win shares (3.2), and second on the roster in defensive win shares as a senior. He was also first on his team in BPM and OBPM. Mann’s 5.1 total win shares ranked 10th overall in the ACC in 2019.
