No you cannot sign and trade another teams FA. That is just his opinion on the effect of the trade. To get PG there helped get KL there. So the Clippers were willing to send OKC a massive pile of stuff.

Jesus, i kinda feel this was a gross overpay for PG13.

Who knows if Kawhi an PG13 will even be on the team past 2024. Those unprotected FRPs in that time period is terrifying.

I have no doubt Ballmer will pay insane levels of lux tax to maintain a championship team, but 33+ year old Kawhi + PG13 arent folks one should max out.

Paul George is 29, coming off an MVP Candidate season, and Kawhi is 28, coming off winning the finals MVP and taking down the warriors.

This is absolutely the right time and right players to max out!!!

PG13 has a trade kicker, i hope he waived it, otherwise adding 15% on top of his home max raises deal, ouch.

Clippers need to win at least 2 championships in the next 4 years to make this gamble worth it.

Lakers are in the same boat.

Past 2023 its gonna be UGLY for both franchises as they literally dont control their futures at all.

Damn the picks are also as far as possible, we're gonna owe picks in 2026 when neither of these two guys are gonna be close to allstar level (lucky if they're starter level, or even here still). OKC got a haul, I would've made the trade from their perspective even if George hadn't asked for a trade.

The trade kicker is moot, he already makes more than the full max for a 7-9 years veteran guy, so it can't be added. That's because his 8% raise in this year's contract is bigger than what the salary cap increased from last year.

I swear, this trade is like buying a high end Ferrari at its peak price on a terrible loan that balloons after 3-4 years, landing a super model gorgeous girlfriend due to having said Ferrari, and knowing youre gonna go deep in debt that'll REALLY bite u in the ass in a few years.

Yea the next 3-4 years are gonna be awesome, but after that, unless you get lucky and make enough hardware to still make it worthwhile.

Or if youre unlucky you bought a lemon and the super model girlfriend is an axe murderer and things go belly up in short order.

It's funny, but i wouldnt mind being in OKC or NOP shoes, i get to be smug for years, while still enjoying a decent enough product on the floor, with a good chance at sustained greatness down the line.

Look at the equation. Divide by half. We got PG AND Kawhi for that price.

Well spent. Crap first-round picks. #20+.

Kawhi and PG are still under 30. In their prime. Plus we kept our team. That won 48 games. Except for Shai. But he didn't win us no 48 games. He was on a #DocRiversScholarship. :lol:
