Luke Adams, MLBTradeRumors.com (7/12/19)
According to Amick, Houston continues to push to acquire Iguodala from the Grizzlies via trade. The Clippers are also known to be among the most serious suitors for the former Warrior, Amick adds.

In order to match Iguodala’s $17,185,185 salary, the Rockets or Clippers would have to send out at least $12,185,185 in salary of their own, which will be difficult, but not impossible.

Los Angeles could use Maurice Harkless‘ $11,511,234 expiring contract, but would have to include at least one more piece — likely either Jerome Robinson or one of their 2019 draftees. Those two 2019 draft picks (Mfiondu Kabengele and Terance Mann) can’t be dealt until at least August 9 after signing on Tuesday.

Do we have minutes for him?

if we do swing a deal for Andre, we are not doing it for the regular season anyway, so if we can't find him minutes in regular season, well that is just gravy.

if we do sign Andre, deals like these are strictly for the playoffs. he will help our playoff D from 3 lock downs to 4 on the floor. sit your regular season scoring helpers and clamp down on D when it matters the most. Pat-PG13-Andre-Kawhi can lock em down and still switch on anyone without losing anything.

I would take the risk of having someone overpay in the trade market for a 35 year old SF so that the Clippers can try their luck signing him when he inevitably gets bought out by Memphis.

Pass. Not worth trading for IMO. I like the roster we have right now. Maybe later in the season, things come up, but I could go without him.

Agreed, doesn’t feel like he’d provide much value in the regular season anyways.

I also don't think he's worth trading for. I think the priority right now is a playmaking guard. Bev is a 3&D type guard, and Lou, while a decent facilitator, he's there for his offense. We need a guy whose main strength is running an offense.

A younger Teodosic-type player would be perfect... Can we just look up whoever lead the G-League in assists last year and sign him???

Found the top three in assists in the G-League from 2018-19:

1. Marcus Williams (9.8 ast) - 33(!) years old
2. Walter Lemon Jr. (8.4 ast and 20.9(!) ppg) - 26 years old
3. Chris Chiozza (7.7 ast) - 23 years old

Maybe Walter Lemon might be worth taking a look at???

*edit - damn looks like Walter Lemon was signed by the Bulls at the end of last season.

We don't necessarily need a play making guard. We've been top 10 offense the last two years without one. We'll be fine.

We had Milos and SGA the past two years and they were both good playmakers. We just have so much talent this year we can get by without one, but I would think Iggy could help in that aspect.

Clearly Harkless would have to be dealt in order to bring Iggy. Looking at our roster, who would be more valuable to play 15-16 minutes a game? Harkless or Iguodala?

While we may not necessarily need Iguodala in our roster, we certainly do not want him to join Rockets, Nuggets or Lakers either.. I couldn't care less if he stays in Memphis, or goes to Minnesota, Toronto, Miami or any other team in the East.

For the regular season it's probably Harkless, he's better suited to play the 4 and we don't want PG or Kawhi playing to much 4 until the playoffs. We'd probably have to throw in McGruder or Jerome to trade for Iggy

seems like the team understands all that, otherwise i imagine there'd be more noise. i'm quite happy with harkless as is and he might even continue to grow as a player. given we traded all our picks, youth with any remote potential for growth is almost priceless for the team.

I feel this is just posturing. Iggy is old and trading Harkless, who might have some upside and has young legs, for him PLUS an asset or two just seems asinine.

Adding a FRP is obviously a non starter, and trading a younger Harkless + even just 1 SRP, feels like an overpay.

HOU is in more desperate position, so let them make the dumb trade. LAC actually can use Harkless when Kawhi/PG13 are getting load managed, whereas Iggy is simply a broken down old man by this point.

It honestly feels more like the Clippers are going through the motions of "chasing" Iggy, so that when Iggy inevitably gets bought out (even i dobut HOU is dumb enough to make the trade, not to mention the cap hit), the Clippers give themselves a chance to convince Iggy to join their bench instead of the Lakers.

Yeah even if the team gets him you want to lower his work load. Keep Mann or Robinson active to split minutes

Buyout should happen at some point
