Patrick Patterson

What's the deal with this guy.. does he know he's "Patrick Patterson"? I thought we basically signed him cause he's Paul George's guy. Little did I know.

I know his play might come back down to normal but man his first two games with us have been nothing short of stellar.

It's crazy that JaMychal's been playing great, and yet I'm ok with Patterson usurping the place I'd have given to him in the rotation.

The most important thing from this start to the season for me, is that guys like Patterson, Harkless, Green, even Zubac, are fully adapted to the team and very comfortable with their place in the rotation already.

Disagree, the most important thing was the celebration Moe did.

You don't know how other NBA teams have good roleplayers that teams like Clippers need? Just cuz PP have struggled finding his role in different teams doesn't mean this is a surprise. Im not surprised at all I remember him playing well for Toronto. A big PF who can shoot 3s is needed, a decent defender will find minute.

I wasn't a fan of Patrick Patterson, but he was huge last night. What I don't want is for Doc to think that is going to happen every night and keep relying on his shooting. Right now, Zubac is going to be a huge X factor because of the threat of everyone else. You saw it the first two games. He just has to be in right spot and they dump it to him for the easy bucket. If teams try to take that away, then Patterson is there for the 3. We are very unselfish which gives us too many people to defend. If we consistently exploit the un-defended option, then we will be a VERY special team.

It's a little surprising ... but not that surprising. Thing is, Patterson was a #14 pick (and I remember thinking he went a little lower than expected at the time). For half a decade, he was a quality basketball player. He's never had a major injury; he's only 30 and in the middle of what should be his prime. He's always been thought of a smart player that was willing to play D. Really, his OKC years look like an aberration--he's a little above his PER36 for his Toronto years--but not a whole lot. The question for me was whether more of a C would have been more valuable, but I never had any doubts that 2Pat had a good chance to return to his former level.

So, yeah, right now, he's crushing it.

Yea, i was utterly shocked that JaMychal Green wasnt named starting PF at the opener.

JaGreen gave a DISCOUNT to stay on the Clips, so it'd be natural to reward him with a bigger role and mins with PG13 out and the starrting lineup missing a PF. I'm kinda worry that JaGreen will get disgruntled that PatSquared is taking his mins. However its pretty assured that once PatSquared comes down to earth then JaGreen will be given the starting role until PG13 is back and when one of Kawhi/PG13 is being Load Managed throughout the season.

If PatSqured can give these types of productive minutes throughout the season, then my god it'll be so easy to load manage this team. Sit both Kawhi and PG13 30 games a piece to keep em 100% for the playoffs.

i mean the guy literally took less money to play here so i'd lean him understanding he's gonna sacrifice minutes as well.

Everyone on this team only has to play within their skill set, which is what will enable guys like him and Harkless to be positive players on the Clippers this year. Suddenly JaMychal Green became a relatively attractive FA last season, because of exactly this. 8-)

The season the Raptors were dubbed 'Lebronto,' their fans were calling for Ibaka's head and dreaming up all sorts of scenarios to dump him. The following season, Ibaka drops a career game against the Lakers, I think, his hustle remained consistent throughout their run and Raptors fans forget everything they said about him. Patterson has been Patterson for the last couple of years. Suddenly, he drops a career game this season. There's one common denominator for 2018-19 Ibaka and 2019-20 Patterson and he hides in plain sight of the NBA's collective consciousness.

It's possible he's found the perfect fit, and will be a solid role player, he's only 30, so it's not unrealistic. It's also possible the GS game is his best game of the season and he becomes inconsistent in the rotation.

With only 2 games, just no way of knowing, but as fans we will take as many good games from him as possible.

Unsung hero of the first quarter of the season: Patrick Patterson

By some measures, Patterson has been the team's 5th best player (see: FiveThirtyEight's RAPTOR score). On a side note, Mo Harkless has arguably been the worst.

this RAPTOR metric should go extinct!

kidding, but pretty clear that harkless has been really good for the team.
