The Lakers have all NBA defensive players on their roster.

I'm worried if it comes down to the Lakers will their defensive pedigree come into play or will the clippers bench along with kawhi, PG and patbev defense be too much for a starting unit?

The Lakers wanted no part of the physicality opening night and ad doesn't like physicality much at all.

If the Lakers get Andre iguodala that's another defensive star they added.

So I'm hoping the defense can be up therem I'd like to see a top 3 defense when PG comes back

i'd prefer to see a top 1 defense but we're fairly handcuffed to the defensive ability of harrell, since he's really the team's top big.

Man this defense is really good and the late rallies omg. I know last year clippers can do it but not like this. They had two guys that delivered in the 4th. Lou and kawhi and they put clamps on near the end of the third. the third is still concerning though.

I see the defense improving every game, but one big hole I see right now is defending the three point line. We give up too many open 3s right now. There were two occasions against Houston that the coverage simply did not rotate fast enough as the ball was moving. That could be because our guys still need time to adjust playing with eachother or coaching staff tells the team to drop back and crowd the paint in certain situations.

FTR, over their past 4 games, the Clippers are #1 vs the 3-pointer at 26%

It certainly was a problem, but it's being addressed. And having 6'9" PG hanging around the perimeter sure helps. :D

Clips D is becoming a concern. Since the Toronto game, the D just has not been up to par minus the Suns game. 24 quarters of play and they have given up 29 or more pts in 13 of those quarters. Our offense has been held below 20 pts in one of those quarters, but we have not held any of those opponents below 20 in a quarter.

Clips record:
Giving up 109 or more points - 8-8
Giving up under 109 pts - 14-2 (only 1 loss under 107 pts)

The Nuggets have only given up 109 or more pts 4 times all season. They are 1-3 in those game. Looks like 105 or more is the achilles heel of the Nuggets D this year.

With a limited number of games over the next 10 days and only one trip out of CA until Jan 18, I hope this team can start to lock in defensively. There is plenty of time to practice, so no more excuses. We have 6 of 7 at home to start January and none of those home opponents are currently better than 5 games below .500.

Good post. Clippers are 5th in Def RTG over the last 10 games [#1 in the West] and 8th over the last 5.

Conference top seed Lakers are 10th and 20th, respectively.

Considering our 2 best defenders, Kawhi and Bev, missed some of those games I'm not sure we have reason to worry just yet.

According to windhorst via the jump since the Christmas game, the clippers defense has fallen to 26th. Major slippage.

They need to get their ass back in gear.
