Would Baron have put down the Tommy Burger that offseason?

Please advise.

Elton promptly injured his shoulder in December 2008 and played only 29 games that year for Philly, @ an anemic 14 ppg.

Over 5 seasons with the Sixers, he averaged 12.7 ppg and 7.2 rpg, with as many turnovers as assists--at about $16M a year, which put him in the NBA top 20 salarywise. So actually we caught a break with Elton leaving.

As for Baron, in 2 1/2 seasons with the Clips, he averaged 14.6 ppg and 7.6 assists at about $12 million a year. He shot a little under 40%, so he wasn't great but probably not as bad as we remember him either.

If both stayed healthy (lol), probably a treadmill team, hovering around 7th and 8th seeds. So that means no chance of drafting Blake.

I would have vomited. Brand might be the most overrated player in Clippers history. He was an overweight stat monger on a bad team. The 2005-2006 season was the only season we had during his time that we were above .500.

I wouldn't mind the 7th or 17th pick in that draft to get Steph Curry or Jrue Holiday. But knowing our organization, I'm just shocked/glad we didn't choose Hasheem Thabeet over Blake lmfaoo

It was a blesein disguise because while Brand was still good, the Achilles injury took him from All-Star level player to just good player. He played 31.5 mpg his remaining time in Phily (age 29-32) after playing 38 mpg in his career before that. His mobility wasn't the same, but wiht his good strength and great length, he was very solid at C.

Even if you want to account for the effect of reduced minutes on raw numbers, he went from 20/9/3/2 blks per 36 from 03-04 to 06-07 to 15/8/2/1.5 blks per 36 in Philly. Similarly, he went from 57% TS to 53% TS. He was a shell of himself.

Brand was never a "true" first option in terms of if you're trying to win a ton. Ideally he would need to be a second option for most teams at the level, but he gave production on both ends and his improvement as a shooter really helped his impact. Philly Brand was more like a 3rd/4th option player.
