Paul George Signs 4 Year $190 Mil Extension
Can't wait to watch Twitter freak out over this. Clippers aren't morons. They aren't losing PG for nothing and they now have a legitimate trade chip should they want to move on next season.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

After all the drama this year I’m still excited about this move. Feels good someone wants to stay and retire here. Lowkey want Blake to comeback

No more excuses for PG now, he has to justify this contract when it matters. No more Mavs series.

quite pleased even if i don't think he's a true #1 star. potentially losing him for nothing next year would be devastating.
now to lock up kawhi.

Re: Paul George Signs 4 Year $190 Mil Extension
Overpay on the back end as he gets like 50mil at age 35, but the Clips have no choice.
This is a MUCH better result than PG13 bolting for no compensation.
Pretty sure Kawhi will get locked up soon. If Kawhi bolts he gives up quite a bit of money on the backend of his career as no one in their right mind would give him a max deal in his age 34-35 season.
Are Clips gonna be forced to overpay $$$ wise to keep both PG13 and Kawhi? Yes, but if they win 2 chips its 1000% worth it, and winning just 1 might be acceptable.

Hmm...
If I remember correctly, a player signing an extension means they can't be traded for a whole year. This ensures George will not be traded at all and that the Clippers were serious about him and Leonard being a good dynamic duo.
I don't think Leonard is locked. Always assume that he's going to leave. Clippers have to convince Leonard they want him by either repeating as 2nd seed or becoming 1st seed in the league for the first time in franchise history.

No, because he signed a 2-year deal as a FA with Clippers. He can only resign after the conclusion of his current contract.

I think FO is planning on trading him by trade deadline, similar to Blake. Maybe for Harden ?

i would think so, but i guess i don't really know for sure.
btw this has been a lights out offseason for the clippers, even if non-fans may not think so.
doc gone, lue in, great staff in
montrez gone, ibaka in
re-signing MM
batum/kennard on board
re-signing PG
anyone who's a fan should be legitimately excited. this team is on a completely different track compared to last year.

Re: Paul George Signs 4 Year $190 Mil Extension
Clipper's end, good to lock him in and potentially be able to pawn him off in the future on some potential contender that wants a capable wing instead of letting him walk for nada.
George's end, I'm glad he is interested in taking the challenge of getting us over the top and signed with us long term to validate that commitment. Hopefully last year gives him the chip on his shoulder he always needed and he turns into the co-star that we need. I don't love him as a player but I'd love nothing more than to see him get the monkey off his back and perform in the postseason.
While we may be WCF virgins and have no titles in our history, I'm ok...NOT CONTENT...but ok with another stretch of Clipper basketball that is not going back to the doldrums. We deserve, as loyal fans, to not see an eye sore out there on the floor.

I think that is not the right amount.
He declines the PO for next year and signs for 4 years.
21-22 $39.3M
22-23 $42.5M
23-24 $45.6M
24-25 (PO) $48.8M
So it's a 4-year $176M extension. If he declines the PO on his age 34 season, it is a 3-year $127M contract. Because it's a max contract the amount has to be 35% of salary cap after next year + 8% year average annual increases. I think what Woj is reporting is the maximum possible amount.
Somebody please correct me, if I'm wrong.

it doesn't appear that way since Lakers outperformed us in the offseason by locking up Lebron and AD for next 4 years and adding Trezz, Schroeder and Gasol.
That being said Ibaka over Trezz and Kennard over Shamet are upgrades, while Batum is a nice pickup on the cheap.

Wait, what? PG13 signed an extension?
But a certain someone here guaranteed he was going to bolt?

because we are in a league against others and judgement of our performance is relative to what others do.

Correct, and like Wammy mentioned above, he isn't eligible to be traded until after the season.
