I don't know where Alexander-Walker came from with this, but this is just impressive, the man is just in the zone.

Great drive and kick, then reset to get that jumper by George

It came from playing against the Clippers :banghead:

He'll probably never have another game like this again.

So why is every shooting guard having a field day on us as of late? Patty Mills, Steph Curry, Zack Lavine, and now NAW tonight. There's a bad pattern here. SMH

Seriously. Seems like the unexpected starts do something for his confidence and his shot. His only other career start which was last season, he had 29 pts/ 7 ast on 11/18 FG. SGA would be proud of his cousin.

Shouldn't have been close as it was, but a win is a win. NAW played out of his mind; if he wasn't shooting like that, the game wouldn't have been as close.

I missed a lot of this game, so I can't analyze as much. The Bulls game was a no defense game, and Lavine got hot, but it did have some similar issues to the others.

When it came to Mills and Curry though:
1) Not picking up shooters in transition or picking up late against shooters and with guys like that, any little space is an open shot
2) While in drop coverage (usually when Zubac is on), dropping too low against screen and roll action which just lights up the eyes of shooters
3) Bad communication, some examples, poor reads on screens and screeners defender going to the wrong side of the screen, players seemingly confused about whether they are switching or chasing on pick and roll, and a split second of confusion is an opening for a shot, wrong read on transition coverage

...and then of course shooters just being hot, but if you give them some of those early openings to get going, then it's over. If you're a shooter, you know how it can be, you get a weak defender or some bad early coverages and shots start falling, then even some not so open shots will start to land after the confidence and muscle memory locks in.

This NAW guy came out of nowhere and we let him have a career night against us. We have to do better against these no name players going off on us and having huge nights.

Did Lou get injured? He didn't play at all in the 2nd half

I'm from Philly. We respect effort more than talent. We're a lunchbucket town. We love Dr. J, but our favorite Sixers are Moses and Iverson.

Now that Trez is gone, Zu is probably my favorite Clipper as a person and he's holding his own on the second unit--which is, um...crap?

I'm hoping that Ty is giving Serge the starter minutes to get him accustomed to playing with Kawhi and PG, in search of our closing 5.

Completion Backwards Principle: What I want is Serge playing the most important 22 minutes of the game and the rest played by Zu or whoever. Let Zu start. Let Serge finish. Serge will be fine, the fewer minutes the better. Zu, the more minutes the better.

For you statheads--

Zu's PER [Player Efficiency Rating]:

This year--19.2
Career--19.2

MORAL OF THE STORY: you is what you is

I wasn't gonna go there because even mentioning the name of "Rivers" triggers a garbage storm on our board

but if you do the stats the Clippers were always in the top 5 in FTAs--IMO because of his constant whining

I'd do the stats for you but my heart isn't in it anymore

To be fair, the guy was hitting some really tough shots and was still being defended. Sometimes guys just have those nights. I remember one possession where Mook was basically Shane Battier reincarnated, had his had within an inch of NAW's face... and he still hit the 3... Sometimes you just have to tip your hat off to that. We experienced that with Jamal plenty of times, one night looks like an NBA2K game with the shooting sliders set to 100, and then shoots 30% the next 5 games

Any win is a good win, but the points in the paint differential and offensive boards differential were shocking at least at halftime. That helped Pels just hang around when should have been blowout.

Alexander? He was outlandish, hope his family taped that game

As much as I appreciate not having to see as much whining, I think the more likely explanation for why we're getting less free throws this season isn't that we're whining less, it's that we're such an extreme jump-shooting team.

It could be a factor, but the main factor would be personnel.

It was mentioned in another game thread. Harrell is gone, he was 5.6 FTA/G. Lou Williams has been playing passive, he was 5.2 FTA/G and is down to 2.1 FTA/G. The new additions aren't player who draw fouls.

Kawhi, 10.4 per 100 to 8.4 per 100
George 7.2 per 100 to 7.1 per 100

So Kawhi is down, George is the same, but of course a couple of high FTA games could change Kawhi's numbers.

I like how the season is going so far. Its only 11 games in but I'd like to see the clippers go up big and hold the lead instead of letting teams come back in the game against bad teams. I think that's where it'll show the most that the clippers are mentally focused on the minor details and showing championship focus.

It's no coincedence when the team needed kawhi the most, he showed up. When he puts his imprint on the game, its pretty much a win. I was like where was he for 2 and half quarters? Then he had a monster 4th.

My observation was based on the Clippers immediate jump from 9th [23.0] to 2nd [29.1] when he took over. Of course there can be other factors.

FYI: Clips were #1 last year and are 23rd this year. I'm not sure it's a huge factor on the scoreboard because we're #1 in FT% [an amazing 84.3%], bringing us up to 13th in free throws made. But you'd like to see us tougher in the paint, which puts the pressure on and raises your FG%. We're 29th in points in the paint. The Lakers are 2nd. :-?
