Well, yes, because they fit better. Fit is just as important as how good or useful a player is in a vacuum.
Batum unlike Green can guard on the perimeter and help with ball handling, that gives you a different lineup versatility than Green.
Ibaka unlike Harrell can shoot and space the floor, that gives you different lineup options than Harrell. So it doesn't take you from thin to deep, it just takes you from less balanced and versatile to more balanced and versatile different issues.

Morris got demoted to the second unit where he's the best of the meh. So did Zubac, where his plus/minus is below zero. Shamet is even worse on the Nets. Reggie is out of the rotation. And you can insist until the dogs come home that J-Myke is a player but I don't buy it. That's thin. The proof is on the court every night here in 2021. We replaced a lot of those minutes with Batum and Ibaka, who are killin' it.
Now let's figure out how to hide Kennard.
