Game 22 - At Nets - Feb 2 4:30 p.m. PST - TNT

Nets tonight went down to Wizards 149-146 (no, it was only a 4 quarter game, not six quarters).
Clearly the Nets suffered from a lack of Harden's all NBA defense.
Was the "hip contusion" an excuse to rest the bearded one before Tuesday?
Too early for Vegas odds.
This should be a fun one... ah and a look at DJ and Shamet, and of course the old fan favorite Jeff Green, who wowed us for about half the 2015-2016 season.
This is not current but who cares:

Bev is out. Was hoping he’d be ready to go for this one. Batum is listed as questionable. It’d be nice to have him especially.
Harden is set to return to no one’s surprise.

That MJsGoat guy is a joke. He said that He believes the Mavs would have beat the clippers if KP didn't go down last year during the playoffs based off the 51pt point loss early this season.
Where is he now? Now that the clippers are 1 seed and the mavs aren't even in the playoffs? I can see he's back on the Kawhi bandwagon
I wouldn't rule out the nets. They're still struggling and despite that, they are second in the east. Its very well possible they can click and make it to the NBA finals, just based on their offensive talent alone. The heat started off 9-8 and went to the finals the first heat and the LeBron James' Heatles.

Unless you're disputing him on the facts, there's no reason to attack the source or even mention it. He did not express an opinion here. Is his fact correct or not? If not, thank you for the correction.

I am looking forward to this game. It will be our most serious game of the season so far. I don't think we played a real contender level team since the first week of the season.

yeah we played Lakers, Nuggets and Jazz to open the season, but are yet to play any of them again or Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, Nets.

With Harden back this should be even more difficult. Best bet is to get DJ in foul trouble or fatigued with constant attacks to the rim

It's rooted in Narrative, not fact. An obfuscation if you well. They are on pace to have one of the best offensive historic ratings of all time. If they can keep up with that pace and tighten up on defense just a little bit, History be damned. The fact they could be this bad defensively after 9 games together or so, and still be second place speaks to the offensive talent.
Their defense doesn't have to be a top 10 defense to win and again, he's making the evaluation after 9 games of their Big 3 together. The guy is a clown.

No need to attack "that MJsGoat guy." Neither narrative nor obfuscation. Nor clownish. You need to explain what you mean by these attacks point-by-point or stop throwing these ugly words around. With all due respect? Our board is one again becoming a nice place to respectfully exchange ideas again.
All he said is history is not on the Nets' side and gave the proof.
This is a GAME THREAD, bro and if I had to put together a Dream Team of NBAers I want to beat it's KD, Kyrie and The Beard. The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

i think the nets are wildly overrated and pundits picking them to automatically be in the finals make me cringe.
but make them a middling defensive team and they're pretty much the amare/nash/jj/diaw/bell phoenix suns. a sight to behold and destined for the finals.
i just don't know how they go about the defense thing, though. relying on deandre jordan at his age is not the answer.

This isn't a college dissertaion. I've explained the reasoning. If you cannot grasp making rash conclusions after 9 games, than thats on you my man.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind when you attack Justin Russo.

Spot on. I've been eyeballing DeAndre as a Net. Completely lost. Lost his job to 22-year old Jerrett Allen's 12 and 10.
Doc made DJ the quarterback of our defense. And made him part of our "Big Three." Doc's greatest bulsh*it triumph ever. Doc took an 8 ppg/8 rpg player and made him a $20M player. I love DeAndre but he's still a poser, not a winner.
Doc never relied on DeAndre Jordan, lol. Doc tricked DJ into becoming at least half the player he could have been and twice the player he actually was.
Just telling it like it is--why Doc Rivers is known as a "players' coach." That's why Embiid is playing the best of his career, with ease. Tobias is getting back to near-All-Star. And Doc is letting Ben Simmons be Ben Simmons because frankly, after the coaching change, Ben is still Ben.
To return to your OP, Nick--I don't think DJ has lost anything physically. Not even 33 yet. He's never worked that hard, never been severely injured. Maybe he's been saving it all up for one final burst...??

I like their chances to be honest of getting there or at least getting to the ECF based on the talent alone. I think 3-8 in the east are pretenders. I don't think celtics are for real. I don't think the sixers are either, but they're the number 1 seed so by default they're in. I think it's the Sixers and the nets. If the heat get healthy, I can see them stealing a deep playoff run again. They just haven't been able to shake injuries and covid problems
Before they traded for harden they were like the 5th or 6th seed. Now, they're the second. Just going 6-3 since they been together.
I personally have Clippers-Nets in the finals.

Nothing is ever "by default" with Doc in the playoffs. To me, the Sixers are bigger pretenders than the Bucks or Celtics just because of Doc.

Glad to see you actually read what I write and remember it even when you don't understand it. I often disagree with Justin Russo's conclusions and opinions. But when Justin quotes a fact I trust him completely. I use him as a source. I do not attack the source. I like using people I disagree with AS MY SOURCE. Then we are at the truth.
Justin Russo is an honest man. I have followed him for years.

I can totally see an upset if they remain the number 1 seed.

You attacked him last year when he was critical of doc's rotations in the playoffs last year. Its amazing how you have selective memory. On second thought, it's actually not.
At least Justin has comprehensive breakdowns, details to back up his sayings. Vs a guy who concluded History is not on a teams side just after 9 games of playing with each other. Not even have a seasons worth of data, but go on.
We'll just agree to disagree on the subject.

Oh, so your point actually was that you think the Nets are going to become a Top 10 defense? Well ok but you just should have said so. It's safe to say that's quite the minority opinion.
Yet, by the time the Nets got to mid-January, Nash expressed stated Brooklyn is “not a defensive roster,” with the team’s best interior defender, Jarrett Allen, being among those moved to acquire James Harden.
https://fansided.com/2021/01/31/brooklyn-nets-best-offense-worst-defense-nba-history-james-harden-trade/https://netswire.usatoday.com/2021/02/01/nets-worst-defensive-rating-in-nba/?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
As for Justin, I think there's a reason he's still freelancing, but I wish him luck.
