Great article! I have no idea why your URL tag wasn't recognized, but here's the link 8-)

I thought this was pretty cool quote describing his game back in high school:

Mann drove to create shots for others, then sprinted back on defense. He scrapped for blocks and rebounds and took the tough defensive assignments. He was what Young called “high-speed WiFi” — connecting those around him in an instant, making everyone’s lives easier in the process. Mann’s game was all motion, slashes to the rim and close-outs, and no buffering.

If he's able to knock down shots, then there's a lot less need for him to be a PG in the NBA as well. I do think in a couple of years when he's comfortable on an NBA floor, he'll actually be up to the task of at least filling in some minutes at PG.

His reinvented jumper cannot be ignored: While cementing his role over the last 13 games, averaging 21 minutes per night, Mann has shot 55% and made six of 13 three-pointers.

Lue can see traces of his own path in Mann’s. More than two decades ago, Lue was a young guard fighting to build trust on a team with championship expectations too. If the Lakers needed him to guard John Stockton, Lue did it.

“He was working hard last year,” Lue said. “This year he’s able to play more free. I think not playing the point guard position and just being a two or a three, he’s able to slash and cut and fill the lanes and offensive rebound — things like that that have really opened his game up for him.”

Things like that always have. It was why, after Mann played 29 minutes against Utah last month, La-Force wasn’t surprised to hear her son’s first comments during their postgame talk.

“Mom,” Mann said. “Did you see that pass I threw to Amir in the corner?”

so i wanted to bump this thread because even since this article, he seems to have hit yet another level. for a while patrick beverley was considered the team's heart and soul. but now? after this last month? i just don't see how it's not mann. the team is something else once he walks onto the court. (also beverley doesn't play basketball, so, it's by default lol)

what i'm curious about is how much he's been impacted by kenny atkinson: mostly because if atkinson was a direct influence on mann's development, the team should have confidence in being able to develop other guys like him in the future, given our very sparse resources.

Great development strides in the recent weeks and doing it against playoff caliber teams

Nick, thanks for bumping... totally appropriate. Mann was a beast last night, driving through the lane like he was Harden Junior.

Low key he's starting to become the heart and soul of this team. Can't wait to watch tonight's game. High probability Kawhi sits this one out as well

Lamar Odom 2.0
(not really, but your post did remind me of Lamar his second year here.)

Without the roster spot specifically for chauffering him around, the oversleeping and drug use of course.

I enjoy watching Mann, he's quickly becoming a star/leader in your team and needs more recognition by the media. Hope he continues to grow as a player.

Mann needs an ever bigger role now imo. That was a big game against Denver and there were stretches where he flat out looked like our best player out there. I have no clue to what his ceiling is now

Mann is pretty much the only silver lining from this season. If he keeps this up, losing SGA won't sting nearly as much.
