Could this mean that his injury is actually pretty serious that $9m is best he can get as a free agent?
I dont think he would opt in to that instead of looking for a 3 or 4 year deal.

Has to rebuild his value and show that he's healthy. Also I think he likes it here. If anything, it's another reason for Kawhi to stay.

Would be better news if Kawhi wasn't injured.

Also, yes, with Ibaka having a back injury that kept him out so long, it's unlikely any team would be giving him their MLE or more this off-season without certainty of his health. He would most likely have had to sign at the mini MLE or minimum level due to injury concerns.

This sounds like opting in, to take the year off and rehab at a price that won't hurt the team, in a place he loves to be. Its good news for the development of Zu though and continuing recovery of maybe Cousins if he resigns

Hope he's healthy next season. Man not having him really destroyed the playoffs gameplan of having him be the stretch 5 against most teams.

At best im hoping for Serge to have a strong 2nd half of hte season (after resting for the first 30-40 games), going into the playoffs, along with a rested Kawhi ready for game action for the last 10-20 games to tune up and then go hard in the playoffs.

At this point, just consider Serge a 10mil expiring deal. If he's not even practicing by now, he's pretty much still crippled by injury.

Serge had surgery on June 10. Besides the fact that the normal/best thing to do is "rest," it's usually a 6-8 week minimum for back surgery, even minor procedures. He probably is just now getting back around to actual court time. A lot of the rehab involves things that are pretty mundane--stretching, swimming, yoga. Not a whole lot to see.

Nothing against Serge personally but I don't trust or believe in him health wise at all. If Hartenstein keeps improving I wonder if Lue and the team would make Serge an afterthought rotation wise. He's owed his $9 million this season and then he's off the books. Of course a healthy Serge contributing to the team would be awesome but he's damn near two years in with the team with only a handful of games under his belt as a Clipper

Serge who??? Honestly I think he's washed just like MMSr. Hartenstein is doing just fine. He's only 23 and won't cost us too much $$$.

Good to see Serge back though he was clearly rusty. Seems humble trying to fit in and not mess us the flow
