In my season preview, I wrote:
And there is a rare chance of a game being rescheduled to fit inside one of those five in seven nights. If it were to happen, the Clippers would be faced with a back-to-back-to-back, a six-game in seven-night stretch, or both. This ridiculous schedule is befitting for a lottery team, and to put that on the Clippers following one of their best seasons in franchise history screams "hidden agenda."
As of today, the postponements have begun:
But in an interesting twist of good fortune, pertaining to the Clippers:
This is quite surprising. For a franchise whose luck has always been on the wrong side of history, the fact that their games have seen no rescheduling is a good thing for them, not just because their schedule is already the toughest on all the teams. The Clippers suffer from the Corpse Bride Syndrome, where they believe that "every single tiny microscopic little thing must go according to plan," for if one thing goes wrong, then everything goes wrong. Suppose a game where the Clippers are involved has to be postponed - now their schedule gets even tougher as the schedulers will need to figure out where to put the make-up game, and the most likely make-up date would have to fit within one of the existing 5-games-in-7 nights sets. This could result in the Clippers having to deal with a back-to-back-to-back (three games in a row a la 2012 NBA Lockout season), or a set that could go six games in seven nights.
With how already crazy their schedule is, hypothetically speaking, if such a thing were to happen, do you think Clippers will make it through?
