Damn. Love Powell and Covington. But I hate we gave up on Johnson this quick.

Whew. Didn’t see them being the first team to pull the trigger.

Another trade has to be incoming. We have no backup point now.

Covington is another expiring contract I think.

I see lots of speculation that Coffey might/should get his contract converted now.

Powell should be a juggernaut here if we share range ball

I am sorry about Keon--but I've been thinking that the development of Boston over the past couple of months meant he or Keon would be going. Turns out it was Keon.

And I'm sorry about Winslow. He defended multiple positions and was a great locker room guy. Looks like he's on his way to getting healthy.

But, of course, Covington is more durable, better shooting version of Winslow even at 32. Covington is one of those guys who does what he has to. I'm kinda stunned on the Portland side because, well, they didn't have a whole lot of D. And what they had basically got traded to us. But I also get it. Winslow, like Covington, is a finishing piece on a competing team. Covington lacks value on a losing team--and Portland is a losing team right now.

But Powell ... very interesting. Just entering, or getting to the middle of his peak. Great shooter, above average to very good defender. He's worth his contract. He plays at SG/SF, though--and I'm thinking that means either Mann or Luke could be moved for a PG. I love Batum, but Covington replaces Batum--and a Batum/Mann package could get us a very good PG. Just thinking out loud.

Anyway, it's a good trade for us.

Powell is a So Cal kid (SD)...

Coffey getting a spot and a deal is necessary business

Scrubb into the rotation if we're not getting that PG until summer?

Losing Keon sucks but getting so much value for Bledsoe and Winslow is a huge win.

Would love to see a Ibaka trade next. Hartenstein basically makes him expendable.

Nice trade, LAC fans.

You are going to love NP; solid two way guy on a great contract.

RoCo has lost a step but can still help a playoff team.

As a POR fan I am less than excited about Winslow and Bledsoe but curious about Keon Johnson.

What can you tell me about the newest Blazer?

This was the whole point of getting Bledsoe, his contract was attractive to teams due to it being non-guaranteed.

Nice trade, this will be even more valuable when the stars return.

Powell gives the team a guard who can create shots for himself and put points on the board efficiently. Covington is a solid role player.

Excited for the addition of Powell. Love his toughness. Covington adds another good versatile defender at 6'7"(avg 1.3 blks).

Would love to see T-Mann and Ibaka gone next. As for Keon, well something has to give. Powell is a very good player.

monster athlete with a steadily improving jumper and surprising handles/passing ability.

he wasn't just raw in SL, he was the still-moving cow. but somewhere between then and now he really polished up his game. he's still very low impact in real NBA action but he doesn't look completely lost now. he just needs time.

i think he projects to be a plus defender at worst

I haven't seen as much Keon as others perhaps, but he is super raw and super athletic. He's probably at least a season away from being a significant contributor, but he has long term upside. I think most Clipper fans here liked him, the main issue being how he fits the Paul George/Kawhi Leonard timeline.

Bledsoe: Extremely inconsistent. When he's good, he's a solid 15/7 player. But when he's bad, oh boy.......it's like a horror movie.
Winslow: Great wing defender. Can probably guard 4 positions. Can handle the rock and do some play making. One of the worst shooters I have seen at his position. Every time he shoots I cringe.
Keon: Still very raw and have yet to play much at the NBA level. Can jump out of the gym and has shown the potential to be a lockdown defender.

There are so many ways we could go at this point, this was a good trade by itself but sets us up for many possibilities to round out the trade deadline.

I do believe we are keeping Norman Powell, he helps our team both now and with PG/Kawhi- and he's on a reasonable deal for the next few years as long as he holds up for most of his contract.)

We could keep or trade Covington, or move Morris, Kennard, Mann, etc. based on what's out there. I don't think we have a specific move isolated, it's going to depend on what's the best deal we can get between now and the deadline.

The only downside to this trade is of course losing Keon. I don't really see it as 'giving up' on him though, every player has a net present value based on what you predict for the rest of his career. We could still be high on Keon but prefer Powell because he can play now with Kawhi and PG.

Wow, great trade by the Clippers!

Now the Clippers have two expiring contracts in Covington and Ibaka worth 22-23 million, hopefully they can get a solid point guard via trade.
