Coffey Converted, Moon 2-way, Semi Waived

Post#1 » by KL2 » Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:20 pm

Coffey makes sense only if we’re not expecting players back this season. Where’s he getting minutes next season?

I thought it was a toss-up between Hood and Semi.

Best move is getting Moon on that 2-way contract.

About time. This should've happened two months ago.

Not sure why Ojele and Hood stayed on the team for this long, neither of them play PG, shoulda been waived right after the deadline.

Well deserved for Coffey. As for Moon, our slow reacting FO finally decided Reggie being our only PG does not cut it.

I agree- one of them should have been waived- there was a glaring need for a back up pg

Moon is not a point guard. He is actually listed as a shooting guard.

My thoughts on Moon: he doesn't seem like a great player. Rotation piece at least, role player at best. The only reason why they signed him is off-court more than on-court: he is related to Jamario Moon, who once played for the Clippers in the 2010-11 season. Feels more like a favor signing than a roster spot.

They knew a single roster spot was needed for Coffey before the end of the regular season, so might as well use that time to decide which one of those two would be more useful to keep around.

Congrats to Coffey, he's more than earned the contract! You love to see it.

Coffey’s contract is just for the rest of this season right?

I actually liked Semi, a whole lot more than Hood, but understand why the FO went with Rodney, although, it's quite negligible. It's a bit of a disservice to Semi though, should've waived him off the bat to give him a chance to latch onto a playoff team, assuming he would've had any interest.

Moon played decent for us, but there's still a few players I'd rather give that two way to, such as a Nico Mannion, Darrick Walton, McKinley Wright or Joel Ayayi.

Just picturing if our FO took Ayo instead of Preston, wouldn't even have a glaring need at a backup PG. Oh well, split milk.

Yeah, but he's a RFA and we have full birds, if I'm not mistaken.

I wish we had given Kris’s Dunn a shot with a 10 day, his numbers were good in AC and he is playing regular minutes on the Blazers. That may not be saying too much, but his numbers there have been respectable so far.

Lol, there's no reason in the world a team would sign a guy simply because he's related to Jamario Moon. And of course it goes without saying that a G League player is not a great player and would be a rotational/role player at best. When I was watching our G League team for Boston and Keon play Moon was the third player that balled out and looked really good in those games. And he does play point as well. Happy for Coffey as well

If we can get at least Norm back, Ty is going to have a pretty deep toolbox going into the play-in game. Amir is not going to get regular minutes going forward, but will likely get critical 5-10 minute stretches here and there in certain lineup combinations.

Last year Ty was king of adjustments, this year we added Norm (hopefully back soon), RoCo, an improved Amir, and Hart. Getting Norm back will be crucial to giving PG some frontline scoring help for his inevitable shooting off-nights. Even Marcus Morris becomes a great option when we specifically need his scoring (rather than hoping he can rebound and defend over the course of 30 minutes a night.)

Ty is going to need Deep Blue to analyze all our potential lineup combinations and matchup combinations against other teams.

Worth a waiver claim and Hood's roster spot (if Batum signs off that he's not a maniac)?
