CLIPPERS + JOHN WALL = LARRY O'BRIEN

Like our own beloved buyout reject/retread Reggie Jackson, John Wall was overpaid by a crap franchise to do more than he was capable of. But that does not make him a failure.
It does, however, make him rich. After his coming buyout, John Wall can walk away from the NBA tomorrow after generating $200 million in salary alone.
Reggie collected $100 million himself and now has chosen to be #Clipper4Life.
J-Wall and R-Jax could split the minutes and be the best PG per-48 minutes combo in the NBA--bar none. J-Wall gave his all for the going-nowhere Wiz, and now Wall could redeem the slime thrown his way all these years and become a legend in LA helping to lead the cursed Clippers franchise over the Lakers to their first-ever chip.

Settle down, Mike Smith! I'm as excited as anyone, but we didn't just sign Steph. Wall hasn't played in a year, so it's hard to tell what we'll be getting from him this season.
Plus I've been a fan of this team for way too long to start counting Larry O'Briens before they've been won. Let's not start acting like all those Suns fans who have been cocky as hell the last couple years with no results to back it up.

Love this move. Low risk. High reward. Defense should be damn good. He will benefit from being around higher profile vets.
We gonna keep all these guards?

Absolute low to no risk for high reward, kinda think Kemba could've been a better fit but who knows if that would have came to fruition

Yah, most franchises are a mess nobody would want to join. And with Reggie here, we're a great fit--Wall can do as little or as much as he's capable of--be it 15 minutes or 30--and still be a key contributor.

Yesss.
Comparing him to Kemba was absurd, Kemba was the worst defender in the nba last year.
Also, players returning from long-term injuries often perform poorly in their first year and then perform close to their old self the following year. While the fact that Wall didn't play last year is a great buy low situation for us, if he didn't take good care of himself, it includes only the Taxpayer MLE amount of risk.
Speaking of players returning from long-term injuries, I'd assume Klay might also gonna return much better next year

Yah, but he had them over a barrel. If I'm Wall, there are only a half-dozen teams worth playing for, and LAC is my first, second, and third choice. Miami maybe my 4th. Otherwise I sit home with my $150M in the bank and the Rockets still owe me $47 million.
Rockets must have given him permission to go find a team or else it would be tampering. But anything less than the TPE--and as Kyrie found out, that's all that's out there unless you want to join some dogspit Siberia like the Kings--the Rockets stay fine, stay home then. We're not giving you a buyout just to save the league minimum.
Wall ended up on the team he wanted and still walked away with all the dough. He played his hand masterfully. That's the kind of IQ you want in your point guard.

Wiz fan here. Happy for you guys and happy for Wall. Wrote this in the GB:

Not me. This will be the most talented team he has ever played on and for a true point guard, that's important.
That’s what’ll be interesting to see. Wall has never been on a contender and has pretty much been the best player on every team he’s been every year of his career. Looking forward to seeing him in a situation where he doesn’t have as much heavy lifting or scoring responsibilities in the offense, and can focus on what he does best, playmaking for others. He was also an all nba defender in Washington before Scott Brooks took over, definitely had the chops on that end when he’s locked in, especially now what he’s playing on a legit contender with all league defenders in Kawhi and PG next to him.
If Lue can get him back to playing defense like he’s capable, this is huge for the clippers.

Haven't seen him on the court in a while, but Wall can run an offense, he has the ability to defend, well, he did, I don't know how much the injury has impacted him. His shooting of course is not reliable, but he does enough other things well. If he his healthy and productive, he certainly changes a lot for the Clippers in terms of plugging a need.

Yes, Klay still wasn't right but they won anyway. Kawhi will have some of that but remember that Klay got injured then RE-injured. Kawhi has babied himself, let's be honest. OTOH--the Spurs pushed him to come back early and we know how that turned out.

Re: JOHN WALL
FTR: Wall is NOT coming back from injury. His last NBA game was against the Clippers in April 2020 and he went for 27 points. Then the Rockets shut him down with 12 games to go in the Bubble year for BUSINESS reasons and he sat out last year for BUSINESS reasons.
Wall had missed a lot of time due to injury and the Rockets shut him down early in the 20-21 season in order to keep him healthy and retain a high trade value.
The following season, Houston decided to change things up and focus on up-and-coming talent like the number two draft pick, Jalen Green, as well as Kevin Porter Jr.
Therefore, both the Rockets and Wall agreed that he would sit out the 2020-21 season as Houston looked for a trade partner.
Wall may have some rust on him [and probably some excess body fat lol] but he's only 32 in September and he's fresh as a daisy. A 5-time all-star walking in our front door--for free. This is YUGE.

Glad to hear it. Didn't like Reggie playing so many minutes last season. Still would like to see the Clippers obtain a more athletic big man through trade but maybe long term chemistry would be better.
