Re: Shooting For The Moon: G-League To The Rescue
maybe some financial reward for busting ass in Ontario
Code: Select all
The Clippers have waived Nate Darling, the team’s PR department tweets.
It’s a surprise move, considering Los Angeles signed Darling to a two-way deal on Friday and the team hasn’t practiced since the All-Star break. Either the Clippers had a change of heart about how to use their two-way slot or signing and waiving Darling was always the plan in order to get him some extra money on top of his G League salary.
although the 2nd unit is terrible since they dumped Reggie lol

Wouldn’t read too much into it. He’s the 3rd G-League they’ve signed like this.
Darling, Wallace, Moon
Darling, Wallace, Moon
Maybe We Should...

Note that Moon is a shooting guard. If he or Mann were to start, the wild card position returns, with Westbrook possibly coming off the bench. After the 3-game losing streak, they may have no other choice.

These guys aren't seeing any playing time with the main squad and from what I'm hearing on Twitter these quick two-way signings -and then they're released a week later to rejoin the Ontario Clippers all over again- are basically money bonuses for these guys having good seasons in the G League. This might be something like $80-100K into their pockets for balling out this year and being good professionals.

Do you think Moon gets waived? Who do you think Clippers will really go after for that final spot? Or will that spot remain unfilled, leaving Clippers to enter the playoffs with just 14 available players?

I don’t know the other two, but Moon was a credible 3rd point guard/ injury fill in for us in the past. At this point he’s got no upside left, but before we signed Russ I thought he’d replace Moses Brown as our two way. Maybe we converted the other 2 just to give them some bonus money, props to the Clipper org for that!
With Russ now though, not sure we’ll actually need Moon but he can just be our 2-way going forward as injury insurance.

FYI: Two-way contracts end at the close of the regular season. They need to be converted to real contracts to be eligible for the playoffs.
