Game #20: NUGS (14-7) @ LAC (9-10) WED 12/6—7 PM, ESPN

After a BRUTAL 5-in-7--and 6-in-9 [we went 6-3!!]--the Clippers got a rare 3 days off.
Because of not making the playoff round of the In-Season Tournament, Clips were rewarded with an EXTRA scheduled game with the World Champs.
But all is not lost. Things are coming together statwise. As noted in the last game thread, the TOs are coming around bigtime as the pickup team starts to establish an identity

ADD: The Nuggets are only 5-7 on the road but 9-0 at home.

LOL our home court advantage can be LA traffic, teams get to the stadium late and have to forfeit games to us.

Maybe we will win tonight because NOONE expects Clippers to win. I think the last time we won Ibaka was on the team lol

Per Cleaning the Glass, the trio of Harden, Leonard, and George has a +17.7 net rating (NTRG) in their minutes without Westbrook. Additionally, the trio of Westbrook, Leonard, and George has a NTRG of +28.5 in their minutes without Harden. Two very high-level trios, Leonard and George next to Westbrook or Harden has produced great results for the Clippers, while those four together have a -17.7 NTRG (per the NBA's data).

Nightmare matchup for us. Full strength or not.
No reason to expect a win tonight. Fingers crossed it’s not another embarrassment on national tv.

Does this team ever get fired up for a game. They come out like **** every game. This is on ESPN. Kawhi gets picked, PG bricks a bunny. And they are giving up wide open 3s, Harden gets bullied in the paint.

As this is the third of fourth meetings, and Clippers have lost two to the Nuggets this season, this is an ultimatum game. They're fighting for the right to keep this SoCal core together. Lose to make it three in a row, meaning a season series loss, and Clippers will get automatically swept by Denver should they meet in the playoffs. It will be like Raptors losing three playoff series to Cavaliers, meaning they were forced to blow the team up if they wanted to win. We could see the same thing with Clippers.
If we're gonna see Leonard-George for one last playoff run, they gotta win this one. And for that reason, I think they'll do it. They always lose when it comes to championships. But if there are games they won't ever lose, it's whenever the fate of a player is involved.

It occurred to me the last few weeks that what if teams are giving the Clippers their best effort every game because of some perceived Super Team.
And what if the Clipper believe they are a Super Team and that why their energy comes out flat nearly every game ?

I think the Clippers are too small, too slow, and too old for the Nuggets. Just a bad matchup all around.
