Yikes. Not good at all.

Zu has been the most durable player for us in the last 5 years. It's a big blow but I am confident Plum and Theis can step up.

Zu was playing too many minutes. 27 is too many. Has always been at his best under 24. With Theis and Plum here, no reason to go more.

Could be a blessing in disguise, Plumdog will get reps and be back up to speed so hopefully all three bigs are ready to rock going into the playoffs

man, that's too bad, right when we would have been able to go on a good run and get reps against the top teams

fortunately for us we have plumlee back and we can see how we can do with his presence. tweaking the system for a much different piece will likely end up being a good exercise for this team.

On the bright side, this is a much better time for him to go out. We only play 2 games over the next 9 days. Then, we go on the road and have 4 games against the bottom teams in the East. Then, we push up against the All-Star break. We get a chance to work Mason back into shape.

Wasn't someone last week proposing we trade one of out back-up bigs? Was a foolish suggestion then. Looks even more foolish now.

the key phrase here is "re-evaluated in 4 weeks". Calf strain recovery is typically 2 months, could be as much as 3 months, and has a high risk of re-injury if not healed well.
I will assume we would want him to be 100% healthy for the playoffs so I don not expect to see him back on the court until mid-March the earliest. He is going to end up missing 24 to 30 games. He missed only 22 games in 4.5 years as a Clipper.

muscle strains, i think are a bit unique in terms of injury recovery in that they more or less heal on their own, when they feel like it. strains are also susceptible to setbacks during rehab which makes it dicier, so we can't really know what's up until we (zu, i mean lol) get there. top-flight rehab/trainers/support will help guide the process and HOPEFULLY keep him on a good track, so let's hope for the best.
