Kawhi Leonard is joining them for shootaround for his Willis Reed moment, inspire the team to get a win. Right now, they refuse to take over responsibilities because it seems to me that Clippers expect Leonard to be their sole hero. They have three other superstars that can take over for Leonard: George, Harden and Westbrook. George is their franchise face, Harden is a 10-time All-Star and regular season MVP (and Sixth Man award winner), and Westbrook is a 9-time All Star and regular season MVP. Did they really think that Leonard was going to do everything for them, be their savior because they failed to win titles on their own and hoping that the Good Samaritan Spurs luck of Leonard's presence will make everything right? On the contrary, things have been opposite.
I'm calling this an automatic win despite what appears to be an impending loss for this one reason: don't lose three games. Clippers have always been one to prevent 3-game losing streaks or three losses in a row. They've already accomplished this with Lakers, Pelicans and Timberwolves; they don't want to add Nuggets to this list. Whenever a team loses three games to a specific opponent, that means they have their number and possess the divine right to automatically sweep the unlucky team out of the playoffs. The Nuggets became a title contender because Clippers got caught up in all the glitz and glamour of a dynamic duo again after the heartbreaking dissolution of Lob City, resulting in them with the greatest 3-1 collapse in all of NBA history. You can say it's the Clippers fault for Denver being championships, and it doesn't help that former Clippers Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan played a part in their run.
And don't forget this: if a team ever loses three games in a row, it's an automatic series loss. In the playoffs, 3-0 is a death sentence; no team in NBA history has ever come back from down 3-0. Lue apparently loves to emphasize this as he's prevented 3-0 leads more times than I can count.
Let us hope Clippers take them seriously by defeating the Nuggets to tie the season series. Come with the mindset, "if we can't lead, then nobody leads, we'll keep it tied and let fate decide." Hope that same fate falls in their favor.
