GAME #8: SIXERS (1-5) @ LAC (3-4)—WED 11/6, 7 PM TIPOFF [ESPN]
NOTE: 7 PM TIPOFF [ESPN]
Gonna start this thread early because Philly IS Clippers East, with so many of our alumni [PG, Pat Bev, Reggie, Eric Gordon, KJ Martin] and many of the same issues.
Enjoy.

So I am actually glad we are giving PG his flowers before the game. But when the game starts, we need to hound him and make him uncomfortable, and we can win this game. Get tough with him (not dirty, just tough) and get him off his game, and he'll call it a night early.

Can Mann and George square off in the corner and build a brick sh*thouse together, while we play/win 4-on 4?

"The Warriors and Clippers engaged in talks about a potential George opt-in for the final year of his contract worth $48.7 million and then a trade. The Clippers were willing to make a deal with their division rival, according to sources, but were looking for something of value to help restock their asset cupboard if they were going to take back an undesirable contract and be in the second apron.
Swapping George for Andrew Wiggins, who has three years and $85 million left on a four-year, $109 million deal, plus other salaries to make the math work, would have been acceptable only if the Clippers received a young player such as Jonathan Kuminga or Brandin Podziemski and a pick or two.
Draymond Green said on his "Draymond Green Show" podcast earlier this summer that George wanted to join the Warriors and that he was surprised the Clippers would not at least take something back instead of letting George walk for nothing.
But league sources say Kuminga's name never seriously came up in talks of any significance and the Clippers felt they weren't getting enough positive assets to move forward in this new second apron world.
"Nothing," a league source told ESPN, "is better than something."

he probably should have gone to the basket, but that isn't a bad shot- PG often makes those mid-range pull ups

Yeah it wasn't actually that bad. A little closer to basket would be better, but he's tall enough that it's basically an uncontested shot.

And that in a nutshell is PG. Instead of being a the dominant guy his body allows him to be, he decides to play like Carmelo Anthony and clank jumpers instead of being a matchup nightmare. There is no way Grayson Allen should be able to handle PG, but PG helps him out by dribbling forever and then taking a harder shot.

Nice win! One noteworthy thing is that our guys are playing together really well considering all the new pieces. We are also closing games pretty well. Keeping pace with Houston so far, without Kawhi (was good to see him on the bench.)
A short Jordan Miller sighting. He had no real plays, be he doesn't look particularly quick on the floor?

I missed that it was Grayson Allen, yeah he had the time and really needs to create a better shot than that.

PG is so overrated. I am laughing so hard. We got people who play hard with less egos and more team game. We are going to be around 500 if we are lucky but at least we will come out most nights and play hard.

If these first 8 games are a microcosm of our season (until hopefully Kawhi gets back soon), I will absolutely take this. Guys are playing hard and our team finally has some physicality and athleticism.
I didn't want PG to start feeling himself and then go drop 35 on us, well he shot well early but I had nothing to worry about with his 9 FGA...

It was time for him to go. The irony is, CP3 should have stayed here. And the bigger irony is, he left to go play with Beard. Who is now here. And Chris is on his 5th team since leaving here.
I know I'm getting meta, but ffs. At age 40, CP3 would be our 2nd- or 3rd- best player.
Anyway, good win. But my hometown Sixers are such a mess without Embiid they're not even worth talkin' about.

Good win with everybody contributing. Powell trying to kick the tires on an all star selection. He's been great! I was at the game. Good crowd but need more seats filled. I live in Inglewood so its easy for me, but I know for most its a much tougher place to get to compared to Crypto along with the $50-70 dollar parking. Looks like PG took the boos to heart. Let it go and enjoy that extra money. But he's got to take more than 9 shot attempts, that's insane. Philly might be in trouble if Maxey is out.

I had guests over and I admit I wasn't watching closely:
Jordan: 3 minutes minus-7
KPJ: 12 minutes plus+8
Coffey 25 minutes plus+10
Dunn 18 minutes plus+17 [team best]
Batum 20 minutes plus+11
Judge for yourself.

Great comment. Yeah, it looked half-empty again on TV and I'm not the least bit tempted to spend the cost of a lobster dinner just to fckng park my car. I think all those empty seats agree with me. This Beard-Mann thing was not Ballmer's Plan A.
BTW--Philly is hating on the Sixers' owner and Daryl Morey bigtime. Embiid is hurt, the team is sh**t, and the owner just bought the Washington Commanders and all he wants is a new arena that nobody wants in Philadelphia.
The only thing they love about the whole thing is Maxey. In fact, I love what Norman is doing and I loved CP3 back in the day, but if we had Maxey, he'd already be the most popular player in Clippers history.

it's kind of ridiculous- they should consider discounting the parking.
at least at Staples you could usually find street parking not that far away.

I hope Ty Lue keeps Norman Powell in the starting line-up when Kawhi comes back. This guy is sooo efficient and he can score in multiple ways. I also see his defense getting a little pep in its step. Really fun to watch him explode the way he has. If it's sustainable, it'll be hard to keep him off the All-Star list or reserves.
His handles going into the paint has been spotty. Actually, every Clippers outside of Kris Dunn has had issues dribbling into the lane (Harden and KPJ especially).
Pumped to finally see a game where we're up double digit and don't give it up. On to Sac!
