Welcome Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills
Trade involves a SRP, Tucker and MoBamba.
The trade brings the LA Clippers below the luxury tax but gives them optionality at the deadline and buyout market.
The Clippers are now $4M below the tax and have enough flexibility below the first apron

Re: Welcome Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills
Fine with this deal, not bad..
Able to move on from Tucker.. guessing thats why had to throw in the R2 pick.
Two former Spurs that made their careers there, starting out (Patty didn't get a chance with Portland).
Eubanks is serviceable as a bench center.. watched him come up pretty well on the Spurs. Will hustle and move without the ball, bigger body. Will mix it up around the paint.
Mo Bamba didn't seem to work out unfortunately, I thought he could of thrived on this team and broke out a bit. Oh well.
Mills is at the end of his career, probably won't play too much.. but will bring good energy on the bench, and can shoot the ball from mid or 3P range whenever. Clutch and tough if needed.. obviously knows Kawhi too.

I’ve liked Eubanks and at least he’s playable unlike Tucker. Not sure how much Mills has in the tank but he is good friends with Leonard.

Thank god PJ is gone. I was getting worried we might not even be able to trade him for a bag of basketballs at this point. Hopefully Eubanks is the answer for our backup big problems. Now we just need to upgrade from KPJ.

He was one of the all-time Clipper killers in his heyday.

Re: Welcome Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills
Eubanks tries and plays within his abilities. That sounds stupid, but it makes him a decent 10-15 mpg player. I’ve always liked him, although his talent is truly at the borderline NBA level. Still, he can come in and give you 5 points and 4 rebounds a game in 15 mpg with great efficiency, and do it every night. He's mainly a C but can give you some minutes at the PF, which we need. Mo Bamba has twice the physical ability, but just … doesn’t get it. He’s one of those guys that doesn’t seem like he wants to be an NBA player. Teams keep picking him up hoping they can be the one to flip the switch on him. Hasn’t happened yet. We had our try. Eubanks is a better player for us.
I'm betting Patty Mills is going to get released or tied with Bones and the exceptions in a trade.
Basically, we upqraded out backup C/PF position and saved a lot of money for a future second. And those trade exceptions can help--if we decided to use them. It's a decent deal.

Mills is a player you want in your locker room on a chip run even if he doesn’t play much. 180 degree turn here when it comes to having disgruntled Tucker. I wasn’t sold at all with Mo Bamba. Eubanks is probably a third stringer so the real question is what will the buyout market bring in.

Yes- he's only 28 and you know what you're getting out of him, which is really important for most bench players. Bamba had a big body to move around and do some stuff, but never really learned the ins and outs of the game. I think if he had been groomed from day 1 to be a true center and really use that 7'10" wingspan it would have helped him, instead teams were more drawn towards his quickness when he was younger and ability to shoot the 3. Zu never had aspirations for more, yes it's limiting compared to some guys but he's developed into a super sound NBA center. Imagine if Bamba had Zu's skill set.
Probably we were hoping for a little more pizazz from moving PJ, but this trade is at least a minor win on multiple levels. We're under the luxury cap, got some trade exceptions, picked up a better backup big, and have no money carrying over into next year (unless we like Eubanks and decide to keep him.)

It feels like another trade will be coming. Nothing splashy necessarily but something. That or they’re confident they have their guy in the buyout market.

Mo Bamba is the center version of the Brazilian Durant. Always 2 years away from 2 years away …

Boucher would've been an interesting add.

Re: Welcome Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills
Like this deal. The Clips get two useful pieces and lose one unused piece (Tucker) and another seldom used piece (Bamba) lately.
As mentioned before, Eubanks plays hard and within himself. I liked what I saw when he was on PHX a year or two ago. Hope he can provide some value and backup Zu nicely. Mills may or may not have much in the tank, but unlike Tucker, I think he will have a much better attitude about on the team and supporting whoever is out there. Pretty good deal, cant wait to see them in uniform!

Wanted Robert Williams or Jonas V but knew it was fat chance. Ok with Eubanks. He plays hard and knows his role. Bamba has been a bust and just doesn't strike me as a guy that works very hard.
p.s. just watched some Eubanks highlights, pretty athletic guy
