Give the NBA schedule creators some credit. Going into tonight, every team in the NBA has played exactly 79 games. Not sure if this is new or something I never noticed before this late in a season.
We are sitting in 4th currently, but that is based on the tiebreaker with the the teams we are tied with. If those teams change, then we could end up dropping. We need to handle our business and hope that Memphis takes care of business vs Den and Minny. We can't end up with tied with Lakers, Denver and Minny. We can end up tied with GS and/or Memphis and stay above them.

Yeah it gets weird when there is more than a two-way tie, which I think is more likely than not. Instead of head-to-head record against one team, you look at head-to-head records among the tied teams. We are currently at the top of a 4 way tie, but adding or taking away a team from that group could shift the tiebreakers in the group, as could some of the remaining games on the schedule. I guess the GSW game is the most important, since that's our last opponent we could end up tied with at the end of the season. Even if we already own the direct H2H tiebreaker the win will still be important for the overall H2H record in the tied group.
Then the last line is quite the kicker, and basically resets the head-to-head record face off.

How NBA tiebreakers work
If you thought it was just head-to-head record, you’re only scratching the surface. Here’s the NBA’s official pecking order when two teams finish with the same record:
Head-to-head record
Division winner (if in same division)
Division record (if in same division)
Conference record
Record vs playoff teams in own conference
Record vs playoff teams in other conference
Point differential
‘But what if three of more teams are tied?‘, I hear you cry. Well, the NBA applies those same rules, but they get a little more messy. For example, if the Clippers, Nuggets, and Timberwolves finish tied, you’d start by looking at combined head-to-head records among those three. If that doesn’t sort them, you move down the list.
Importantly, once a team is separated in a multi-team tie, the process restarts for the remaining tied teams.

Wow. Yeah Houston holding their cards Pop-Spurs-style tonight, at least to some degree. All those guys just played so not truly hurt.
Houston is pretty deep with talent/ability though -- Tari Eason, Cam Whitmore (lottery pick that barely plays), Adams, J. Green, J. Tate, Sheppard.
Won't be surprised if Eason, Sheppard, and/or Whitmore have a night -- Clips gotta be all-in like the last bunch of games.
Should be a fairly capable win, though. C'mon.

Yeah, that's been kinda annoying. Majority losses when they're on for the mainstream.
But oh well. Most of those games were before March at least, team was just different.

Spurs just beat the Warriors at the buzzer. Holy moly.
If Leonard had made that put back dunk. He’s had cruel intentions all night.
Triple double for Zu

Great win in the end. Zu with the trip dub and whole team seems bonded now. Kawhi looks ready to be fully unleashed in the playoffs. Who would have thought…

Probably should have won more handily, but they took care of business in the end. In fairness to the Clippers, it was a back to back and some key players were missing- Powell, Simmons, Coffey and Batum for the 2nd half. Rockets shot really well too- Jeff Green still looks like he could be productive, Holliday played well too as did Shepard.

If my mother is correct, we are no worse than 6th with 1 more win. They win Friday and they can rest on Sunday if they don't care about match-up.
If Denver loses to Memphis and we win in Sac, then they go all out for the 4. If Denver wins vs Memphis and we win2, then we probably rest key guys on Sunday. They can end up in 5th winning or losing.

Told you guys--Ty's been saving him and stashing him all year. His legs are 36 years old, but they're at least they're well rested.

Thanks for this, CL. It all made my head hurt.
