Frank's managed to blow more than half of our MLE and we still don't have a playable backup center. Lopez can barely move anymore. He's ancient and done. We're a "win now" team bringing back the same team that didn't win now, but even older and slower.

I don't dislike it, but don't luv it either, per say..

Decent move to upgrade the backup C spot.. spaces the floor, has good experience, is not inept offensively, can protect the paint pretty well.. but would of liked someone more agile as a different look from Zubac. And a good bit younger, too.

I imagine Lue and co. got some intel from Doc on this.

Not a bad move I believe - but I am getting worried about improving and adding to the big forward spot at all, with someone who can "play now", or slated to be given that chance. Going with Batum and the wings (Kawhi, DJJ, Harden) again is just not good.

80 games, 13pts, 5rb, 1.8ast & 50%fg. That seems like a pretty good pickup off the bench. Yeah he’s 37 but everything Clips do lines up with the end of Kawhi.
Get over it.
We’ll win a lot of games if most stay healthy. I’d rather watch wins.
Championship? No.
We’ll have to wait for the next era

we need 12-15 mins a night and for him to help develop the rookie. Great teammate and great leader on a roster

Lopez did not have a good year last year +/- wise and got SMOKED in the playoffs. However, he did average 31 mpg at age 37 and may have chosen the Clippers precisely because he WON'T be asked to start. He did average 1.9 bpg so he can help with the rim protection and hit 37% from 3 so that's cool too.

Zu played a career-high [by far] 2600 minutes @32.8 mpg last year and that's just too heavy a load. He was dragging by the end of the Nuggets series too. If we get him under 30 mpg and Lopez benefits from getting under 20 mpg, it could benefit them both. Hey, we only need to break even in the non-Zubac minutes--we've been getting killed on them ever since Hartenstein left.

I'm assuming second year is some sort of non-guaranteed situation, so yea, this is fine for a backup C who is durable and brings a different skillset.

As a bonus, all these Clippers players can go straight to playing with each other in the Big 3 league when their contracts end in a couple of years.

I think this has more to do with Milwaukee being at Hot Mess than with Lopez. Of the six players that started more than 20 games for the Bucks that weren’t named “Giannis Antetokoumpo,” Lopez had the best +/-. And, yeah, he played over 2500 minutes last year and has been durable for the most part. He’s not my favorite player or who I would have liked to have gotten … but he’s a winner and brings a new skill set and is still an effective big. Unless age catches up with him all at once, he’s a good pickup.

I had him behind Green, Rollins, KPJ and Portis per 100 possessions, and a tragic 36%/26% and minus-16 in the playoffs.

Still, I think we're both hoping that shifting to ~20 mpg will make a new man of him. As Barkley said, you can still do it when you get older, it just takes longer to recover. He had 22 points vs Joker in a win last March and 26 in a loss without Giannis in April. He's not cooked yet.

Ugh.

@notwashedcnu (June 30, 2025, 17:01 PDT): “Brook Lopez is 90% of the reason why other teams went off against the Bucks in the playoffs and I don’t even get recompense for what he did to me.”

@Bozzyiverson (May 2, 2025, 10:15 PDT): “Bucks need to move on from Brook Lopez. His defense was exposed hard by the Pacers’ pace. Time for a younger, quicker big who can protect the rim and keep up in transition.”

@BuckFanMKE (April 29, 2025, 20:43 PDT): “Lopez got cooked all series. We can’t keep trotting him out there when teams like Indy run circles around him. Need a mobile big man ASAP.”

@TheUndeniable34 (June 25, 2025, 11:04 PDT): “@NeutralBucksFan @BuiltToLast2024 @Wiscodsin It’s not that we didn’t have good role players, the roster wasn’t constructed to play championship defense… let’s not forget the biggest problem and that was Brook Lopez being 7 foot, a liability on defense and only grabbing 2 boards in crucial games. Dame is not the problem.”

@BlackSubzero24 (June 30, 2025, 17:32 PDT): “@ColdBucksOnly @LAClippersFilm we are asking for some insane levels of bounce back from Brook Lopez man he looked absolutely shot moving around the court. It’s not about them being great it’s how old he is and likely falls deeper into physical regression.”

@peri1284 (June 30, 2025, 12:56 PDT): “Some perspective on Brook Lopez. He averaged 13/5 along with 2 blocks per game. 51% from the field on a very decent 37% from the 3 point line. 82% from the free throw line as well. He struggled bad in the playoffs. Just 25 points and 8 rebounds the entire playoffs.”

Also, hopefully he will help to develop Zu to shoot threes. Zu will be the franchise player as soon as he starts hitting those nightly basis.

Zu already has a three ball and a mid range shot. Lue has had him in handcuffs for the last several years. We just have to unleash him on offense.

-As far as Brook Lopez, I guess, its whatever. I'm hoping Yanic can make strides and Brook is just a temporary thing. I'm all in on youth development this upcoming season with no apologies. I'm caring less and less about these senior citizens on the team who will be gassed and burned out come April.

I'm not sure what to think about the signing. In some ways I'm excited because Lopez can shoot 3s- even really deep 3s, has a solid post up game and is a capable paint defender. His regular season stats last season look good, but he played so poorly against Indiana in the playoffs that they essentially had to bench him. You can't become washed up in a matter of a week- perhaps he just couldn't cope with Indiana's fast pace of play.
