Sterling Puts it on Dunleavy to Win
This is one crazy article but I like what I read:http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/clippers/la-sp-simers22jan22,1,7839374.column?coll=la-headlines-sports-nba-clippe&ctrack=2&cset=true

All you have to know about this article is this:
Dumbleavy is somewhat correct that the organization is to have part of the blame as well, but I'm pretty sure a better coach would transform the team we have right now into a better "chemistry" team.
Only one can dream of a better coach *coughLarryBrowncough*.
"I want to make L.A. fans proud of this team, but if [ElginBaylor and Mike Dunleavy] can't make it happen, then I have no choice but to make changes."

First time in the history of the world that these words have been spoken. This is epic.
What I like about this article:
"I want to win and I'm more interested in winning than the lottery," Sterling said. "Our fans are entitled to see our players busting their butts to win."
And:
"One, based on my conversation with Elton, he's not going to opt out," said Sterling. "And two, whatever he asks for, I think he deserves. He is our franchise player, we need him."
Maybe he's not the baby-eating devil-worshipper I thought he was.
Maybe.

I have never cared for Simers and "The Donald" has been painfully frustrating but they both came through on this one. After thinking about the trades, they probably consisted of Maggette for Jr./Artest, etc.
After years of futile efforts he finally wants to win and admits his own shortcomings. I enjoy every Clipper victory even the ugly ones, but for Sterling to come out at this point in the season and expect us in the playoffs while our best player will be out for another 8 weeks or so is kind of mind-boggling. I see other teams' fans going into lottery talk already because of an underwhelming season, and that's probably where we're headed and there's a time and place for that. There's 45 games left. The 8th place team is currently 7 games over .500. We'd have to win approximately 45 wins to be at that level. In other words we would have to finish this season starting tomorrow with a record of at least 33-12 or .733. If they pulled that off I'd have absolutely no problem with that and could care less about the lottery.
Changes need to be made throughout the organization. The turmoil is a killer but at least you know people are not content with how things are right now because the fans certainly aren't. The fact that some emotion is shown I think is a step toward the right direction. Elgin has had the cushiest job for the last 20 some odd years. He's had a couple of good moves, but I don't know of any other franchise that would settle for his overall track record (no thanks to an incompetent owner). Dunleavy has had his positives, but his methods right now are stagnant. I'm glad that he's on the hot seat and forced to make changes if he wants to keep his job.

i'm glad to see that sterling wants to win and the news about elton is great but why is he saying this now? if we've ever had an excuse to lose it's this year with no eb or shaun. idk if this is an effort not to lose fan support or what but elgin has been here over 20 years and has put together some bad teams. sterling's timing to put him under the gun is questionable to say the least. but if everyone is on the same page and are committed to winning and this puts all of the organization on the same page i'm all for it.

We really should have pursued Udrih over Dickau.
i believe it came down to brevin knight over udrih. they way udrih has played in the absense of mike bibby, the fact we passed him up hurts me deeply and i kinda wish i never knew we could have signed him.

I'm glad to see DTS just talking to the media. Over years, the biggest frustration was not knowing where he stood and what his intention/plans were for the team. At least we know in very clear terms where he stands. And can't fault him for turning down the Maggs for Terry trade. JT is owed $40 million over the next four years!

From the OC Register:
Well, we know that one of those deals was for Jason Terry. How about the other trade? Only one can wonder...
Dunleavy said he had two deals lined up which would have eased the Clippers' injury situation this season, but both were vetoed. He said when that happened he foresaw the potential for the team's current plight. "I can't guarantee that we would have made the playoffs but we'd be more competitive,'' Dunleavy said.

David Aldrige was ask by Barkley to confirm the trade offer last year of Maggette for Terry & a 1st pick, and he sounded confident to answer it yes.
TNT guys can't believe the owner blew it. Mr. Sterling is really stingy when it comes to money. Telling poeple that he like Mags a lot is over stated reason.

I don't believe we all could've seen what Udrih was capable of. Considering the fact that he was in San Antonio and didn't get much PT. Mostly due to that he didn't fit into their half court style. And who's to say that Udrih would've fit into the Clips style of play? That's something we will never know. And Dickau only had one good season and that when he was with the Hornets two yrs ago. Since then, he really can't catch a cold if he was paid good money.
