YAHOO NBA RUMORS:

Arenas, for Brand, could give Clippers star power to match Lakers

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling long has courted a star to match the Los Angeles Lakers, and Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas could be the one.

He's from Los Angeles and may be the league's biggest personality, even when not playing. He's eccentric and iconoclastic. And he can score 30 a game. With a center like Chris Kaman and some of their pieces, the Clippers could have a show to match the Lakers.

The Wizards add a player to make salaries match-maybe the soon-to-return Etan Thomas, and Elton Brand could be that low-post presence the Wizards miss and few in the East have.

Let me Guess.... Chicago Tribune must mean Sam Smith right? Which means like any Vescey it is going nowhere. The plan would be to get Arenas and Brand together, not to swap them.

^Exactly. We get Arenas for EB and we'll be just like the Fakers with only 1 all-star on the team and still struggling to make the postseason in March/April.

Why would we do this if Arenas has indicated that he will definately opt out at the end of the year. If we trade him this season he could end up never suiting up in a Clippers jersey. I could see a sign and trade with Washington involving Maggette if he is still here at the end of the season.

As opposed to the super star laced team you have now that contends for the title every year?
