Al Thornton looks like a BETTER Corey Maggette

Post#1 » by remixer2017 » Wed Feb 6, 2008 10:25 pm

Have any of you guys noticed that Al's rookie season is looking very familiar to Corey Maggette's.

Corey Maggette (Rookie Season):

MPG: 17.8
PPG: 8.4
APG: 0.8
RPG: 3.9
FG%: .478
3P%: .182
SPG: 0.3
BPG: 0.3
TO: 1.79

Al Thornton:

MPG: 21.2
PPG: 9.6
APG: 0.9
RPG: 3.4
FG%: .410
3P%: .351
SPG: 0.5
BPG: 0.4
TO: 1.05

It's looking good for Al Thornton to be a very good player to come in the future. He gets a little more minutes than Corey did, but his PPG are higher as well as 3P%. Plus he has less TO than Corey did. The thing is Al is only getting better and I can't wait for next year. Very similar seasons. Who thinks Al will become an All-Star, something that Corey could not do?

the only thing i prefer from al rather than corey is the turnovers. that's the only reason i prefer al over corey but i can't say i know which one will have a better nba career at this point.

Al's shot selection combined with his better IQ and better defense will definitely make him a better play than Corey. Without a doubt he'll be better.

So far I think Maggette had a better rookie season, but the season isn't over for Thornton. Overall I think Thornton can do more than Corey can, especially on the defensive side. Thornton has the potential to become an all star IMO.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Al is a very hard worker from what we've seen of him and read about in college. If he continues to work on and improve the weaker areas of his game then he can surpass Maggette. He has the tools to be an above average defender. I'd love to see his ball-handling and passing improve. With time, his decision making will get better. I don't know about all-star status at this time but he could become one of the more exciting players in the league.

Main difference though is Corey was only 20yrs old while Thornton's already 24....

Still I think Thornton might end up with the better career, I just wish he was few yrs younger....
