91-89 Wizards win. Awful last play of the game.
We gave up 22 offensive rebounded and were outrebounded by 20 in total. Yet we still lose by only 2. Theoretically we should have lost by more but it definitely winded up being a winnable game. Losing by a play off of an offensive rebound is the tell-tale story of the night. We did play a much better 2nd half (57 points) than we did our 1st half (32 points) so it's better to finish strong even if we lose. Still disappointing though because we were so close and another team ends their woeful losing streak to us. The bright spot for the Clippers tonight was easily Juice. 24 points and 9 rebounds. This guy is getting better and totally makes these games exciting even when we're on the losing end. I'm glad to see him put up another 20+ point effort. He's getting more confident and comfortable out there. I may sound like a broken record but I can't wait to see him with Brand and Livingston next season. No more Clipper basketball for an entire week but it'll give our ailing guys the opportunity to rest be it physically or mentally. Hopefully it'll do them good.

well
Glad to see the future is bright with Thornton. Don't know much else to say. Kaman is playing below this season's level so far. Not that 11-11 and a few dimes and blocks aren't great, and they might even equal the amount he's being paid, but he has yet to round into form. I don't know if that's because of the emergence of Thornton as another scorer and rebounder or Kaman just has not fully recovered or some other reason.
It's pretty clear that this is a team headed towards rebuilding IMO. With Thornton Maggz is expendable and should be either packaged with a bad contract like Tim Thomas or Mobley's for expirings or traded for a young prospect and some decent talent.
A few moves I was thinking we could make:
Cassell for Najera and JR Smith. Throw in 2008 second rounder or something. One's a hustle guy and another is an explosive scorer like Thornton (though Smith is a headcase). They both expire after the season so low risk high reward potential.
Mobley and Maggette for Redd and Charlie Bell. Bring in a shooter and combo guard to backup Livy and replace Cassel.
These moves would give us youth, shooting, and trade pieces for the future.

So...was it Q Ross who tipped the game-winner in or Kaman??
Tough loss...we made too many ridiculous mistakes that we could've overcome...but we topped those opportunities off with even more mistakes. Sad way to go into the break, but if there was ever a time this organization needed one, it's now.

with about 4 minutes and change to go, we gave up the last offensive rebound i could stand to watch putting us down by 7 i believe. i turned off the game at that point. all the 2nd chance points were just making me nauseous. after having changed the channel, about 30 seconds later it hit me. i had a hunch we wouldn't give up one more offensive rebound for the last 3 minutes and change and that the clippers would win the game. so i tune back in and my prediction is looking good. clippers are making a comeback, al thornton is looking solid and we haven't surrendered an offensive board since i tuned back in. there's no need to explain the irony of a wizards putback with .3 second left.
